Recently found that my Em client software was failing to connect with authentication error. Also my Ipad email was failing to authenticate, but I could login via the web browser to view my email.
I changed the password via the browser, but the other clients still failed.
I asked a friend for help and they installed and tried Thunderbird on my PC, with the same issue.
They then tried Thunderbird on my Android phone, same issue.
There is obviously something, a setting at the Talk Talk end that only allows my mailbox to be accessed via a browser and not a client. Can this be corrected please.
I am 100% confident all the settings used are correct.

Hello I have susequently found that I am unable to send emails even from webmail as I get a message to say that sending is blocked.
I assume something has been set on my account that needs restoring to full access. I have changed my password.
Could someone confirm that this is so and reset it please?

Sadly, I just had the most frustrating experience when phoning Talk Talk tech support about this issue.
Without really checking anything I said, they advised 'making sure I had the latest version of the software installed', and also stipulating that as I was able to access my email through a web browser (webmail) then the fault was not anything to do with Talk Talk.
Despite me pointing out that it had worked fine with various clients in the past and now I was unable to use :
eM client on Windows
Thunderbird on Windows
Thunderbird on Android
Apple Mail on ios (two devices)
So, 5 devices, 4 clients, all failing with authentication error.
Logic tells me that as the settings and password etc are all correct (hence being able to login to webmail), then the common failing point by all these devices is Talk Talk mail.
Then the penny dropped for me. Support were unable to entertain that the problem was there end, and obviously wouldn't get involved with third party s/w. I said 'so I have to contact all these companies to ask why their mail clients aren't working? Despite them all working on Gmail'?
Nothing from Talk Talk - except they emailed me the correct 'settings' to use (which I already had) and laughably when retrieving this from webmail, the email had landed in their own junk mail folder!!!
Frustrated beyond belief. Looks like another ISP may be needed.

Hi,
You are in the staff's queue for a response.
For a quicker reply can you please ensure you have your personal information up to date in your profile including your TalkTalk landline phone number so your account can be traced. Link here - https://community.talktalk.co.uk/t5/user/myprofilepage/tab/personal-profile:personal-info
If you are unsure of your phone number, you can find this in My Account or dial 17070 from your landline phone and this will confirm the number for you.
You can also add your account number in the private notes field, which only you and the support staff can view.
Also could you please include the affected email address in the private notes field. If it's a tinyworld one, others are now reporting a recent issue is fixed so could you please try again.
Please post back when done.
Thank you
