Although I seldom use it, only for emergencies, my mail client is suddenly unable to send/receive to/from my Hotmail account in its regular checking. All other accounts are working properly. I am able to send to Hotmail addresses. The error is reported as
Unable to send or receive messages for the XXXXXX Hotmail account. The email server returned an error.
Server Error: 0x800CCC90
Server Response: -ERR Some deleted messages could not be removed. Microsoft Exchange Server POP3 server signing off.
Server: 'pop-mail.outlook.com'
Protocol: POP3
Port: 995
Not sure about the specific response, checking the webmail there is nothing in the deleted folder.
Is there a current issue between Hotmail/Outlook and PIPEX?

Hi,
All is now OK.
If I send a test message from PIPEX to my Hotmail account I can receive it, so this has corrected itself.
Doing the reverse, at first I was getting:-
The message could not be sent because the server rejected the sender's email address.
Server Error: 530
Server Response: 530 5.7.57 Client not authenticated to send mail.
Server: 'smtp-mail.outlook.com'
Protocol: SMTP
Port: 587
Secure(SSL): Yes
This prompted me to look at the properties, and I realised I had not checked, for Outgoing Mail Server, "My server requires authentication". Correcting this solved my problem. I thought the messages were not being received in my inbox, until I found them in junk!
Thanks for taking an interest.

Hmmm.... I wonder if this is similar to the problem we had with Gmail: Talktalk.net etc last week, @Ady-TalkTalk?
Look out for a response from staff during the day, @HansD & @Mal469.
Staff reply Monday to Friday. The thread is in a queue for attention.
