Dear Support Community

I need to use a parking app called "Paybyphone" which is used for the car park at Ruislip underground station.  To complete the registration it requires me to verify my email account.  Unfortunately the verification email it send to my xxx@Lineone.net email account never arrives, despite asking it to be re-sent several times.  Instead I have had to use another email account xxx@sky.com, which works immediately.  The verification email comes from noreply@paybyphone.com.

Please can someone check if & why the Lineone incoming email server is blocking this incoming email?   There is nothing in my junk mail folder.

many thanks

Kilonova

Thanks for the extra information. Its odd that it varies so much as both we and Sky use Cloudmark for mail filtering. That suggests that somewhere else in the process we're delaying your mail.

Hi Ady

Thanks for your reply.

To answer your question;  I now realise I hadn't described the last problem correctly.

What I did was to send two separate but identical emails from my ***@lineone.net email account using the Outlook app on my iPhone.

One email was sent to my ***@lineonenet email account (ie. same as the sending account), and one was sent to my ***sky.com email account.  I went to my Desktop Outlook on my Windows 10 laptop which has both of these accounts set up to send/receive via POP/SMTP.  The email addressed to ***@Sky.com came into my Outlook inbox immediately, while the email addressed to my ***@lineone.net email account took around 10 minutes to arrive.  It is this kind of delay which devalues my ***@lineone.net email account.  It just seems to be less reliable and much slower than my email accounts with alternative providers, and I don'tt know why.

All email comes through the same TalkTalk servers no matter what the domain name. There are a few different servers and DNS routes so there can sometimes be differences in service between domains and sometimes emails on the same domain. We have been seeing quite a few delays and no delivery complaints from customers in the last couple of weeks. The problem is I have to log them individually and a delayed email is low priority and will see a fairly slow response. The mail you sent from your Iphone to outlook desktop was that from one lineone mailbox to another or did you send it to the same mailbox?

Hi Ady

Thanks for checking.  I am not currently aware of any missing incoming emails on my Lineone account, but I am seeing delays with incoming & outgoing emails, which forces me to use an alternative email account which works better when emails are time sensitive.  I already gave an example with the parking app verification email which took 30 mins to arrive in my Lineone inbox, but when I switched to receive it in an alternative email account (###@sky.com) it arrived instantly in that inbox.  Yesterday I was waiting for a photo download link which I sent to myself from my iPhone (from Outlook mobile to Outlook Desktop), but I gave up waiting, and sent it to myself from my alternative email address (###@sky.com) and then it arrived instantly.  In this letter case it seems it was a a delay based on the sending email account (ie. #he email from ##@sky.com came through much faster thah from my lineone.net email account).  So it seems that I cannot rely upon Lineone email servers for prompt service (and sometimes, any service).

Are you still seeing delays in mail delivery?

Update:  the verification email to my Lineone account finally arrived 30 minutes later.

So my question is now "why the big delay"?  What is going on with the Lineone mail server?

When setting up apps, I cannot wait 30 mins to complete the setup.  Verification emails are only valid for a limited time too.
