Starting today, I am getting the above message when I try to open my Tiscali emails on my Windows 10 computer.

Can you suggest a reason for this?

Thanks

Hi again, @PeterOR

As you have told me in your message today at 03:08 PM, that you can send normally in TalkTalk webmail, you should now check some settings in Thunderbird.

Go to Thunderbird Settings --> Account Settings --> Outgoing Server (SMTP) settings, which is the last option, in the list of options on the left. Click on 'Outgoing Server (SMTP)'. Then click 'Edit'

The correct settings here, for Thunderbird's 'Outgoing Server (SMTP)' are:

Server Name: smtp.talktalk.net
Port: 587
Connection Security: StartTLS
Authentication Method: Normal Password
Username: your full tiscali.co.uk email address

Once you have checked these, you should be able to send emails in Thunderbird as well as webmail.

Good luck.

Perfect! Let me know how you are accessing your email service. Are you using the TalkTalk webmail ( https://apps.talktalk.co.uk/appsuite) or using an App or Program from your device?

-TalkTalk Webmail / Through the TalkTalk website
-App or Program on your device
-Both (TalkTalk Webmail and Apps or Program)

Hi, @PeterOR

The answer you gave   on ‎26-06-2025 12:58 PM  seems to be a response  that Thunderbird would give.

Did you actually try sending anything via TalkTalk webmail at https://apps.talktalk.co.uk/appsuite/ ?

Can you send via TalkTalk webmail?

Is this happening when you are trying to send an email to a certain email address or just everyone?

Yes, that's correct. When trying to send an email, I get the message: "Sending of the message failed.
Unable to authenticate to Outgoing server (SMTP) smtp.talktalk.net. Please check the password and verify the 'Authentication method' in 'Account Settings | Outgoing server (SMTP)'."

As an update on this query, I have changed my Tiscali email password, and can now receive incoming emails, but still getting the same error message when trying to send.

Hi @PeterOR sorry your request seems to have been missed, I've re escalated it for you.

From the 29th of March our TalkTalk Community will move to peer-to-peer support and the TalkTalk team will no longer be here to support with queries. Don't worry we still have plenty of ways to reach out if you need to speak to TalkTalk directly. For more details check out the link here: How to contact TalkTalk Broadband - Help & Support.
