I think my fathers email account has been hacked using outlook.com and i inadvertantly replied to an email from him (which he didn't send). I am now concerned my talktalk email address is now compromised.

Always a worry. The following goes for your father as well as you.

  • Change your email password to one you have not previously used before
  • Run a virus check on your devices, especially the one you replied to the mail on
  • Run a Malware check on your devices. I use the free version of Malwarebytes if you don't have one installed.
  • Use 2 factor sign-in if available as an extra precaution, either using your smartphone as the device or an alternative email address
  • Set up recovery email and mobile phone number if not already done. If you have this set double check in case they have been changed.

Hopefully there will not be an issue but best to be safe.

Did your Father give away any personal information.? If so then the recovery info is doubly important to allow him to recover the account.

As some scammers are know to delete the customers address book, I'd also suggest exporting your contacts details to a file stored on your hard drive.

Hope this helps.
