Talktalk keep sending emails threatening to delete my email address

I’m getting really fed up of receiving these emails . I spoke to an agent from talk talk who claimed to have updated the situation, but still the emails are being sent. The emails shouldn’t be sent to me, because I’m still paying for full fibre broadband. Every attempt I have made to rectify this has failed to stop these threatening email from talk talk. Is there any way to get through to them, that will actually work.

The fact that the emails keep stating that there is a paid solution to this (everymail) despite all efforts to get customer service to link the email to the broadband (which i am entitled to) reveals that this is no accident. As I mentioned to you all, i had no confidence that the support staff would keep to their word, and indeed they haven’t. As I predicted. Twice.

A worrying scenario the poster has painted as I'm in the same situation with the legacy dsl.pipex.com email address.
There is only one practical solution, other than subscribe to Everymail - and you need to act quickly. Go through all your accounts linked to the legacy email and update the email address to another email provider. I've had to change 79 - banks, gov.uk, shopping etc. I just hope I've not missed any.

The poster says he's going to another provider. It might be worth considering a cheap domain hosting server for e-mails. Just google "cheap email hosting ".

@ltk007 you haven't answered the question on your thread if you had signed up for Everymail. If you have then there is no way, we understand, to reverse the transfer

It is deliberate. It’s not an “error” the support teams are telling obvious lies to get the customer to end the chat. They have no intention of solving the problem. The only priority is to prevent you from leaving. As of yet, they have still not attached my email to my broadband. (Ask yourself why that should even be necessary if you are still paying the bill, and you have the answer)

I share your frustrations. I too am in the same boat as you. I am a paying customer for broadband and now unable to send emails as I am being blocked. Several calls to TT technical support and confirmation that the issue has been resolved I have now been informed that there is nothing they can do! So why lie and say the issue has been resolved. TT appear to be deliberately side stepping their  responsibilities. When I end up paying for EveryMail I will be filing a claim in the small claims court for 'poor service' to reclaim the costs.

Well, you tried your best. It's simply been an unbelievable mess and could be really upsetting for any people in this situation who use their Talktalk related email addresses for very important stuff.

I spoke to a talk talk support operator again, and he tried everything in his power to avoid helping me link the email to the broadband. Fobbing me off at every turn. Constant lies. Tried sending pointless links to a talk talk mail log in, tried to tell me a note was put on my file, all the same stuff as last time. When I refused to leave until they linked the email, they finally put me through to an operative who said he had escalated it, and it would be linked within 48 hours. I asked for confirmation when it was done he agreed. I still don’t believe it will be carried out, they are all the biggest liars I have ever come across. They then tried to get me to take out another contract, to prevent me leaving. I said no, and they tried again, with a better deal, I still said no. They obviously know that this email link is not going to be carried out, and know I will leave, and this is an attempt to prevent that. Clever. I’ve done my best.

@alvin1230_0, this is the first time that you have mentioned the time scale of when you spoke to an agent.

 

It really is important that you phone or use Chat again and spell out the fact that the web form should have been completed by them to stop this happening. 

 

I mentioned that form in my first reply.

 

Two or more months ago, it's possible that some agents just thought it was enough to confirm the fact that you are indeed a current broadband customer.

 

But their brief has been tightened up, especially since the forum has no longer got Talktalk staff to process forms. There were definitely repeat emails sent out in April, and some again in May.

 

Despite the Help article mentioning these were sent out simply in error, particularly as it's happened repeatedly, you absolutely MUST proactively contact them again for the correct procedure to be followed.

I spent ages talking with an online talktalk operative from the support department, who assured me he had taken care of the problem. I asked him several times just to make sure, and he told me there was nothing to worry about. I didn’t believe him at the time, and I was right not to,  because sure enough the threatening emails returned a couple of months later.

If you’ve recently rejoined us and taken our broadband service - welcome back to TalkTalk - then please get in touch so we can reconnect your TalkTalk Mail account for you. Once that’s done, we’ll also make sure you’re removed from these notifications. Equally, if you’re a longstanding customer and think you’ve received this email in error, apologies – please get in touch and we can look into it for you.

If you haven't already signed up to Everymail, your mailbox and its contents will then be closed down from 7 July 2026. This also means your email address will be permanently deactivated. Unfortunately, it won't be possible to recover the contents of your mailbox once it's gone.

If you'd like to keep your mailbox and email address, you need to subscribe to Everymail before 7 July 2026.Sign up here

To sign up, you’ll need to log in with your email address and password. If you’ve forgotten your password please click “Forgot your password?” on the login page. To complete the subscription process, you’ll need to enter your billing details, but don’t worry; no charges will be incurred until 30 days after your subscription begins.

OK, let's rewind: can you share the content of any of these "threatening" emails after redacting any personal information? Are all three addresses otherwise working as expected?

It is one of 3 talktalk email addresses that they are threatening to close down, for no reason. I am continuing to pay the bill every month, but I am out of contract. I have contacted them, they claimed to have rectified the problem. They didn’t. I am tired of all this, it is not acceptable. If I have to loose all three email addresses by leaving, then so be it.

I am a wee bit confused here. Do you have a TalkTalk email address, or one of their precursors? If so, you will lose that by leaving, unless you subscribe to Everymail. If it is a sending/receiving issue, then contact TalkTalk for help. If it is a scam, then report it.

I’m simply going to change providers. Now you’re telling me they no longer provide email to new customers. It gets worse. I’m not in contract, so I can do that. Appalling company to deal with in a highly competitive business.

@alvin1230_0 if you lose your email, this does not form part of your contract and you will be unable to leave without penalty unless you are out of contract. 

 

Your contract is for the supply of the internet, your email addresses are ancillary to this, and indeed TalkTalk no longer offer email facility to new customers.

 

There are, as you have been informed, no staff here any longer, so we offer best advice to you, and that advice is to contact TalkTalk direct as soon as possible to resolve, and to keep on at them until this is fixed.

They are not scam emails, they are genuine. I’ve done everything that is possible to correct this talktalk problem. I am removing that particular address from use as of today, and if talktalk removes that address, I will go to another provider, it’s as simple as that.

Are you checking for banner notices when logged in?

Every attempt I make fails. Every helpful link people send ends up in a dead end eventually. This is truly appalling service from talktalk. In the end the simple solution is to simply wait until the deadline, and if the email address gets cut off, despite their customer service assuring me they rectified the problem (which was a lie), then I will cancel the service completely, and take out a contract with another provider. That, is an absolutely guaranteed way to actually solve the problem, rather than jump through their hoops, which is what this is really all about.

If it's genuine you need to act immediately to retain your emails, but as @Gliwmaeden2 advises there are various scam emails trying to take advantage of the TalkTalk transfers.
