EDIT: 16.27 22 march 2023.
Issue seemingly resolved for me
- Email client (POP3) just received messages.
- webmail content visible again
- IMAP on phone also working
No explanation about loss of service though.
===========================================================================
hi
As per subject, i last received emails via POP3 at 16.19 on 21 March 2023
desktop
i noticed a receive error on my outlook client after this time.
"reported error (0x800CCC0F) : 'The connection to the server was interrupted. If this problem continues..." etc
i've got the following config:
mail.talktalk.net
smtp.talktalk.net
incoming is 995 encrypted SSL
outgoing is 587 on TLS
NOTE: sending works
mobile
i use IMAP on my mobile device and that has ceased to work too. I try to poll and just get nothing beyond the existing visible emails that i've received.
No error messages when i poll, though the way my client works is that you configure the incoming server (and outgoing) separately and it will validate one's settings.
"setup could not finish. cannot connect to server (unable to connect)"
Again, sending appears to work / appears to validate
client is k9 email
mail.talktalk.net
SSL/TLS 993
smtp.talktalk.net
STARTTLS 587
webmail
Finally, while i can login successfully via webmail, there's no content visible at all. It says "empty" where my Inbox list of messages normally is.
I get this pop-up initially too:
"Unable to connect to e-mail server. Possible reasons: The e-mail server is (temporarily) down or there are network connection problems. Please try again in a few minutes."
It actually says "add email account" on left side (which i've tried and i get "lost contact to e-mail server. please try again later")
Please can you advise what's going on?
I've seen a lot of recent email issues being posted here, which seem to refer to people needing to use encryption. As far as i know i've been running with encryption for a very long time, so can't see why i should be having problems now.
This is infuriating.
Thanks,
Gary
EDIT: 15.01 22 March. Should have said i'm NOT in any areas with planned maintenance (currently, doncaster, Glasgow, Gloucester, Huddersfield & Inverness)
