G.FAST/Fibre 250 - Can I use my own Router?

Hi,

Will try and keep this short!

I have Fibre 250 being installed shortly.

I have received a package with a Sagem G.FAST Modem, and the TalkTalk Wifi Router.

Do I NEED to use the TalkTalk router, or could I keep the G.FAST Modem connected, and connect my own wifi router instead? Does the TalkTalk router perform any sort of handshake/authentication or is this done by the modem?

Thanks

Hi

You should be able to connect your own G.fast equipment.

I`ve been using my own router too a ZYXEL XMG3927-B50A. I dont have a G.Fast connection sadly just normal FTTC. Its been working great the last few years with no problem. I stopped using TalkTalks units ages ago to many problems

see some settings enclosed if they help

Thanks Karl.

Service has gone live today and is all working, albeit with slightly slower speeds than I initially expected. Hopefully the DLM system might bump this up a bit.

My next question then; I was supplied with a Sagemcom 4370 G.Fast Modem and this is what was installed by Openreach.

I do however already have some other G.Fast capable equipment, so after the initial 14 days stabilisation, would I be able to do either of the following?

1) Use an Openreach branded ZTLink MT992 in place of the Sagemcom 4370, with my own WiFi Router? If so, would I need any specific settings for this?

2) Replace both entirely with a Zyxel XMG3927 G.Fast capable DSL Router? If so, again, would I need any specific settings?
