I use the setting 'Disabled Optimization'

I use the setting 'Disabled Optimization' on the FAST 5464.

If I reset the router, the 'Disabled Optimization' will probably revert to 'Enabled Optimization'.

The current policy of TalkTalk is to refuse re-Disabling Optimisation.

Say, a year or so ago, I was having some stability problems with the router and had the optimization disabled. Since then the connection has been rock solid on channel 132.

A problem now might arise that the internal memory of the router might become full.

This could happen with the enormous irregular recording by the router of many irrelevant 'DNS resolution failures.'

So, what can I do? I don't know.

On another thread, the OP of that thread  said that he was having some problems with the router, and so wanted to add a booster. Then @Karl-TalkTalk suggested that it would be advisable, before adding a booster, to try "using an app such as Wi-Fi analyser, as sometimes Wi-Fi issues can be resolved by proper placement of the router, and examining the Wi-Fi channels in use".

Now if one is going to use a Wi-Fi analyser, and finds a suitable channel, what will be the point of changing a channel. if the channel is re-changed automatically by the internal router 'optimization'?

The conundrum remains.

(I am looking for a special favour from TalkTalk.)

The last question I asked @Debbie-TalkTalk  was,

"If TalkTalk continues with this, can the rest of us come to the conclusion that they are a bit stubborn?"

The answers both you and @Michelle-TalkTalk  gave, were irrelevant.

Mine was not a question, it was a comment. Don't you know the difference?

Now that is a question.

As I said, if you don't have a constructive comment, it becomes ignorable.

Hi Bill

I have read your comment to Michelle but I can't change my answer as it's a business decision that we no longer switch off WIFI optimisation.

I can't change this decision. We can investigate any WIFI issues that you have but we wont be able to switch off WIFI optimisation.

You're just doing the same thing as @Michelle-TalkTalk , @Debbie-TalkTalk

Please read my comment to her

Hi Bill

As Michelle has advised switching off WIFI optimisation is no longer an option available to us.

Please don't continue repeating that script @Michelle-TalkTalk .

I've heard that dozens of times.

Please say something constructive, otherwise your statements become ignorable.

Morning,

Unfortunately we're no longer allowed to switch off the wifi optimisation. This is a business decision that we can't go against.

Thanks

Michelle

Anyway, favours or no favours. You can see from the reasoning above, what is required.

Even  @Karl-TalkTalk agrees that one can use a Wi-fi analyzer, and change their channel to a suitable one.

The user selected channel has no effect on TalkTalk. It is just a local thing. It applies only in the local area.

If TalkTalk continues with this, can the rest of us come to the conclusion that they are a bit stubborn?

Staff can no longer disable WiFi optimisation, @Billx, and that is that.

Tech teams won't allow it.
