The router DG8041W exposes ports 80 and 443 to internet and cannot close them

Today when I tried to port forward ports 80 and 443 to my internal web server, I found that router DG8041W has used these two ports to expose router manage web to internet. It seems that there is no way for me to close them and use for other purpose.

Another concern issue is security issue. The home router is exposed to internet by default without any permission. Anyone with password of the route can easily hack into my home network. In addition, there is no route firmware update, exposing such internet service is too dangerous.

Could I request to replace this router by another one?

Hello,

The router is on it's way. This should usually arrive within 24-48hrs. Please let us know how you get on.

Thanks

Thanks for your kind offer. Please send me a different router and return bags. I will return the old router once the new one arrives.

Morning,

Would you like us to send a different router (Sagemcom router) to see how this compares? We would also send a router returns bag so that one of the routers can be returned.

Thanks

Thanks for your reply. You are right. I can access route manage web through the public IP only when my phone is connected WiFi router but impossible when the phone was connected to mobile network.

But I still need to port forward 80 and 443 to my own web server. Without them, I cannot get server certificate  from Let's encrypt.

You cannot manage any TalkTalk router from the internet, it is blocked. Have you managed to access it this way then?

The DG8041W does suffer from this problem though that prevents you from forwarding these ports. You can ask TalkTalk if they will consider swapping this for the Sagemcom FAST 5364, which does suffer from this & is in my opinion a better router.
