Hello,
For the past month or my Wifi keeps dropping out on various devices (e.g. smart speakers, mobile phones) connected to my 2.4ghz channel. Every few minutes in some cases. The 5ghz channel is working fine.
I've restarted all of the devices, reset the router, even left it switched off completely for a couple of days. The devices in question don't have 5ghz capability so I can't swap them over to that. Very frustrating as my house is in a 4g blackspot, so I rely on the Wifi for my mobile phone.
I've tried changing the 2.4ghz channel (I've tried 1, 6, 11 and autoselect so far). No joy.
Does my router need an upgrade? Any other suggestions?
It's a SAGEMCOM router, Device Version: FAST 5364-3.T8, Serial No. N7183524N005258. I'm on Fibre35.
Thanks in advance!

Between switching off the Optimisation and Keith's offer of help, I think I'm sorted! Thank you 🙂

I had the same problems that's been solved by asking talktalk to switch off WiFi optimisation on my router. Been hugely better since it was done.

Thanks Debbie - that's added.
Are you able to disable Wifi Optimisation as Keith suggests below so that I have more control over the router settings - or is there something else we can try first?

HI Joystercatcher
I'm sorry to hear this.
Please can you add your name and TalkTalk landline number to your Community Profile.
Thanks

Slow speed, intermittent dropouts, breaks in the signal or no signal on some or all devices or no internet access might be caused by Wi-Fi interference from other local networks, which can also lead to a permanent reduction in speed. No ISP can be responsible for your local environment, this is mainly a byproduct of the popularity of Wi-Fi.
Generally speaking, the 2.4GHz band suffers a lot more from interference than the much faster 5GHz band, but the 2.4GHz one can sometimes have a better range, but this all depends on your local area.
Have you had TalkTalk’s Wi-Fi optimisation disabled on your Sagemcom FAST5364/5464 router? When this is enabled, as it is by default, it has the power to override any Wi-Fi configuration changes that I might suggest that you need to make. This will not help rectify this type of problem if Wi-Fi Optimisation is allowed to change my suggested settings. Only TalkTalk can do this for you, you cannot do it yourself. If not, just request they disable this for you in your reply.
In other words, I try to help you optimise your Wi-Fi connection. The next stage involves sending out a guide to you to help you get me some important diagnostic results so that I can analyse them for you and recommend changes to your router configuration to solve them.
I only send this out to people who request it.
