Wifi optimisation

Hi,

Ive been trying to manually change 2.4ghz and 5ghz channels to avoid neighbouring networks, but the changes are not recognised. Are they being overridden by WiFi optimisation, and, if so, can a tech support person please disable this?

Many thanks

You should receive a wifi hub with FF65, this does have wifi optimisation enabled by default but if you experience any problems and want to manually change the channel then just let us know and we'll disable it for you

Ha ha, sorry Chris still confused, but thanks for looking at it... could be that its working alright and I cant tell. The analyzer was an Android one on my phone and tablet. I've another Windows one on my laptop and now that shows just the channels that i've manually set in use!

We've been having problems with connection dropping out recently. I was thinking it was the actual broadband, as OpenReach are doing a lot of work hereabouts recently, but then I saw my 5ghz was disappearing from the list and everything was badly conflicting with neighbours.

In a couple of weeks an engineer is upgrading us to Full Fibre 65 with a new router. Do you know if manual channel changing will still be the same on that set up, should it be needed?

OK thanks. I've had look into this and it appears that the first number is the actual channel selected, the number in brackets is something to do with the channels covered as when you select one channel that is the main channel but other channels are also use if that makes any sense

Thanks for the information. Could I just ask which service you have with us?

On the channel settings it saves my choices (ch8 for 2.4ghz and 48 for 5ghz), but if I scan with a WiFi analyser the graph view still shows them on 6 and 42 respectively. In the channel detail panel on the analyzer it shows: 2.4ghz ch8(6), 5ghz 48(42). Maybe you can see this on the attached screenshots

OK thanks. Wifi optimisation isn't enabled on this router. What actually happens when you try to change the wifi channel?
