Struggling with multiplayer games on xbox one, which says NAT is moderate when tested.
i logged into FAST5364 3.00 wifi router, it says NAT enabled and UPNP on.
The only way to make it NAT open is by restarting router. But when i look in its settings it all seems unchanged? This has happened twice…. any ideas? NB I know it’s not xbox as there are 2 in the household and both say NAT moderate.

Hi @harvi
You cannot get a static WAN or Public IP address on any TalkTalk residential package; only the Business ones have this. This is also true across most, if not all other ISPs. You can get around this by registering with a free DDNS service such as no-ip.
However, turning the router off & on and it works, means that the above WAN IP address will have changed anyway, so it is not a dynamic IP address problem, nor is it related to the UPnP bug.
The router that you have is the only one that TalkTalk supplies.
Rebooting the router will clear all existing sessions, it sounds like your XBox is leaving some perhaps redundant sessions open. You will need to find out from the XBox support people if my thoughts are correct.

Hi
thanks for responding. I’m not tech savvy and have no idea of the terminology you’re using. All I know is that since open reach repaired my line the xbox occasionally says nat moderate and i can’t play multiplayer, unless i turn the router off and on again.
Talk talk have advised port forwarding, but i’m reluctant to mess around with this when another forum chat has indicated that i need to check talktalk will provide a
‘fixed, static Public IP address’..
If not, the IP address that your provider sends to you will change, often daily, sometimes more.’
if this is an issue with this router, upnp. Would it not just be better to request a different one?

Hi @harvi
UPnP currently does not work on the 5364 due to a firmware bug.
To forward the relevant ports, if you can tell me which TCP and/or UDP ports need to be forwarded to your Xbox, then I will provide you with the exact configuration required within the 5364 to accomplish this, having first tested these rules myself to ensure that they work.

Sorry I’m not confident re: all this. Where is port forwarding on the router and how do i find out the xboxs IP addresses?

Thank you, please try port forwarding using the steps below and let us know how it goes:

Hi, yes it’s ‘on’ it remains on even when the xbox says NAT is moderate.

Hi there @harvi, thank you for reaching out. Can you please ensure UPnP is enabled. Since you mentioned it is, please check if the setting is saved properly.
