Hi,
I’m having an issue with my NAT type being set to Moderate when playing GTA V. I have FTTP and am using an Eero Pro 6 router with port forwarding set up for the necessary GTA ports. Despite following all setup guides, the NAT type remains Moderate, and I’ve ensured that UPnP and port forwarding are correctly configured. Is there a possibility of TalkTalk utilising any port restrictions or additional filtering from their end that could be affecting my NAT type?
Thanks

If there is no output from:-
netstat -an | find "80"
Then TCP port 80 is not open in your application.

So I've been using that same netstat command
80 and 443 don't show in the lists, but saying that, the game more focuses on the use of udp port 6672 for a multiplayer connection. Whilst the game is open, 6672 shows in the netstat list which tells me it is binding correctly.
There's no firewall rules in place that would indicate the blocking of 80 and 443, and I've tested already with the firewall off
I temporarily removed the port forwarding of 80 and 443 from my PC's static IP out of curiosity but made no difference

Hi @ch2901
I tested your ports with the same topology, except mine are eero 6 not pro 6. I forwarded the ports to my PC which was connected to the eero 6 extender node.
Sorry, I assumed this was a games console, not a Windows PC. I must admit I followed your PF rules & used 442, not knowing that you meant 443. However, I forwarded both 80 & 443 many times in the past. Are the ports actually open in Windows? In the command prompt, please enter these two commands:-
netstat -an | find "80"
netstat -an | find "443"

Ok, I'll run some more tests on 80 & 443 and get back to you today
Thanks for your help so far

Hi @ch2901
No TalkTalk will not have done anything to your network in that respect at all. I would investigate first why 80 & 443 fail, it is the application on your games console that must open these ports, otherwise nothing will work.

Hi Keith,
Thanks a lot for testing
The TCP ports (80, 443) show as closed on the port checker even whilst the game is open and running online, but that might be because they're not always being used. And ok, that makes sense for the UDP ports with the lack of a handshake.
I discovered last night that my NAT type is listed as 'Port Restricted Cone' after testing on a few NAT testing sites such as https://www.checkmynat.com/
I think this might be the issue. After a google, with this type of NAT, inbound connections are blocked unless I've contacted them first, which is likely causing the moderate NAT in GTA. Even though I’ve forwarded all the necessary TCP and UDP ports.
What do you think? If this does sound like the issue, is it possible to have it changed to Full Cone NAT by TalkTalk?
Thanks

Hi @ch2901
I have now tested all of those ports and they all worked first time.
Have you tried testing the TCP ones via:-
Are they open or closed? You can't test the UDP ones like that, as UDP is not compatible with port checking websites. I have developed my own way of testing UDP ports.

Hi, just sent PM.
Thanks

No, that shouldn't be the case. If you can PM (to protect your privacy) screenshots of your Port Forwarding config on the eero, I can test them on mine for you.
