Are you running the speed tests wired or wired? Have you also tried powering down the router for a full 30 minutes as this will reset the current session?

Are you new to TalkTalk or have you been a customer for a while?

You say you are currently getting 26Mbps. Were you previously getting a higher speed?

Is that the router connection sync speed or a speed test result?

You say the cabinet is 200 yards from your house. Are you sure that is the cabinet you are connected to?

Have you tried searching your address here BT Broadband to confirm what cabinet you are connected to and the estimated speed predictions for your line?

If that is delivered via VDSL (Fibre To The Cabinet), it depends on how far you live from the Fibre cabinet.
