Hi

Not knowledgeable on technology so excuse my basic explanation.

I have fibre 150 VoIP the eero didn't work though so I was sent a normal router which means I can't do a lot of things like speed test or look at faults etc.

I would like to connect some new devices but am unsure how many I can already connect with my set up?

Also I know in my home there is what I believe is called a dead spot due to wall insulation. This is not affecting anything I am using currently but if I add devices I might want to sort this issue so how could I do that?

Thanks

Hi @Debbie-TalkTalk @Karl-TalkTalk @Michelle-TalkTalk @Chris-TalkTalk

This customer is struggling to get WiFi reception in one room due a poor signal strength from the router. Please could you supply her with an F266 WiFi Booster to hopefully rectify this situation?

Hi Keith

Yes it is metal foil that's blocking the internet.

Thanks

Hi

The room is about 5 mtrs from the router and through two small rooms. I can't get an additional router to that room due to cables can't be run to it.

One more thing I thought of is I'm assuming I still have what's called full fibre even though the erro router wasn't suitable?

Thanks

Most of those will probably be of low data usage, so you will probably be fine. If you get any specific issues then let me know. Do you need internet access in the room where the insulation (probably covered in a metal foil) is blocked from the router's WiFi? If so, where is it roughly in relation to the router?

Hi Keith

I have the phone line plugged into the back of the router.

Uncertain what counts as a device so I will write a list of what I use the internet for.

Landline.

2 TVs.

3 KASA plugs that operate 14 outdoor soffit lights. + App

Hive thermostat that operates heating.  +App

Security alarm plus  cameras wired by electric but operated also by an App.

2 Alexa's also with App.

Mobile phone with various apps.

Yes I have a room that due to roof and wall insulation causes a drop in internet.

I'm thinking about adding 4 outdoor GOVEE smart lights with app so wondered if I would then have too many devices.

My connection has been fine -stable and for some time now no issues.

Hope that is useful information and again thanks for your advice and time.

Hi @Susan5050

Thanks for the info, you either have the Sagemcom FAST5364 or the Sagemcom FAST5464 (where the phone plugs into the rear of the router). It doesn't really matter which of the two that you have.

Considering the number of devices you can connect is difficult to predict with any certainty. It all depends on how much data they will be sending or receiving, plus how fast your fibre speed is etc. On Full Fibre 150, that part shouldn't really be an issue. Is the WiFi coverage in your home OK, or do you have any dead spots? How many devices do you want to connect & what sort of things are they?

Hi

Thank you for your reply.

I'm not sure what my router is it has a orange colour behind the frame dots at the front.

If was a BT engineer that first set the erro router up but he said he couldn't do it properly so I was left with nothing working. Another  BT engineer was sent out but unfortunately he also said he couldn't do it if I remember he did connect me back to my old router to leave me with something (can't really remember now).

I was sent out this current router and paid for a private engineer to set everything up as I can't do any of that myself. I also had to do that quickly as when I'm left with no internet it's a huge problem as I need to have a landline and various important things connected so I couldn't risk trying about with the eero.

Thanks

Hi @Susan5050

I can help with all aspects of routers & WiFi etc, which make/model of router do you have currently? Was any investigation done with your eero (or eeros) in terms of WiFi coverage (probably by myself)?
