Every 30 mins, day and night, the landline phone display lights-up with the message "external call".
I think this may be a router problem - can it be resolved by a firmware fix or a change of router?
yesterday
Hi Debbie & KeithFrench,
Just thought I would let you know that I have resolved the issue with "slow loading" apps on Android phone.
It was nothing to do with the Router, but was caused by a weak 4G signal interfering with the WIFI.
It has been rectified by disabling "WIFI Calling" in the Network settings of the mobile phone.
All working fine now.
Thanks again for your help

HI KeithFrench,
The apps which load very slowly are the "separate" BBC Weather, Sport and News. However, the "combined" BBC app, from which you can invoke Weather sport etc works fine!
Other apps which "buffer" for about a minute before loading are M &S, Sainsburys, Hobbycraft, i.e. "retail" type apps.
Once the BBC apps have loaded the performance between "screens" is fine.
I'm not a "techie" and so I don't really want to start changing the Router settings at this stage.
Thanks for your help

Hi @kbleigh
What sort of apps are these? In the 5464, have you looked at the firewall settings, it needs to be on medium, not high.
If you connect a wired device to the ONT in place of the 5464, what speeds do you get using a speed test?

Hi KeithFrench,
Thanks for your interest in my problem.
My router is a TALKTALK router, the make is SAGEMCOM and the model no is FAST 5464-2-T4.
I am on TALKTALK Full Fibre which was installed earlier in the year (March2024).
General internet performance, such as other websites, whatsapp, google, downloads from "catch-up" etc is fine.
Its just certain Apps which run very slowly!

Hi @kbleigh
@Debbie-TalkTalk has asked me to help you with this. I assume that as part of the app loading it downloads stuff from the internet & it is network delays that cause them to load slowly, as they work on other WiFi networks.
However, I am going to need some more information about your broadband package.
1. What make/model of router do you have (if this is a TalkTalk router, these details will be on a label on the rear or underside of it)?
2. What package are you on - full fibre?
3. What is ordinary internet performance like?

Hi Debbie,
I haven't tried a 30 min router power down since you applied the "fix" yesterday afternoon, but I did a few days ago.
I'll try it again if you think it will solve the problem.

Hi @kbleigh
Thanks for your reply.
I can't see any reason for why these apps aren't loading. Your router has the latest firmware version.
Have you tried a 30 minute power down of the router?
@KeithFrench have you come across this issue before?

Hi @kbleigh
I'm so glad to hear this, thanks for letting us know 🙂
In regards to the apps, can I just check, do these apps have the latest software updates on the app store?

Hi Debbie,
Thanks to you and Chris, the "fix" has rectified my problem with phone display flashing.
I do have another issue that you may have a "fix" for:
When I invoke certain Apps on my Android phone over my Talktalk full fibre WIFI, they take a very long time to load, buffering for 1-2 minutes.
This happens particularly with BBC Sport/Weather apps and some "retail" apps such as M&S and sainsburys.
When I use these apps on other WIFI set-ups (eg BT or Sky) they load instantly.
Can you help with this?

Hi @kbleigh
Have you experienced any further issues since my colleague Chris applied the fix yesterday afternoon?
Thursday
Hi kbleigh,
I've applied the fix, hopefully it should be OK now
