I have recently cancelled the £16 per month for free  landline calls and have  since been charged for weekly calls to a London number 02089402212 that we did not make. See below.

  The first one was made on 20th December at 04:27, then exactly a week later on 27th December at 05:26, then 3rd January 00:54, 10th January 01:10 and 13th January 01:30. The calls only last around 15 or 16 seconds and the longest one is 51 seconds. The pattern is continuing into my up and coming bill.

We do not recognise this number and there are only two of us in the house. There is no way that either my wife or I are getting up in the early hours of the morning once a week to make a 15 second phone call to a London number!

I spent almost two hours on the phone to Talktalk being passed around from Customer Services to the Technical Department, who confirmed there was no crossed line so the calls  must have been made and passed me back to Customer Services. Each time I had to start from scratch  going through security checks and explaining the problem.  They all agreed the timings and charges were strange, but could not help. I asked for a call back from a senior manager, but I am not holding my breath.

The costs are minimal only 24p so £1 a month at the moment, but if my account can be charged with calls we did not make, this is a major concern. They appear to be an automated charge, so who knows if they can be changed from 24p a call to £24.

I have been with  Talktalk for around 20 years and do not want to change provider, so any advice would be appreciated.

I dont have the answer but I have the same problem on several bills now. The numbers called on my phone are all 01953 code then either 211111 or 213111 also many calls to the Speaking Clock. Some to 'Fault Report'. Its like the Engineers are using it & we're paying. I live alone & the phone isnt plugged in as i never use it. After way too long for customers service - their reply was 'if i got the Any Calls Bundle (or some name i cant think of) then these numbers wouldnt be a problem. My reply was 'thats sounds like extortion'. There was nothing they could do & said they do not know how this happens. Ive had it on 3 or 4 bills now.

Hi benarty

That number has appeared on all your previous bills, which does indicate its an alarm system making test calls, as the unlimited boost was active you wouldn't have noticed.

@benarty

I have removed the screenshot you posted as it included other numbers along with the one at issue here.

Hi @benarty the number called is as follows ." this is the number for TrueCall. It is a call blocking unit and the number is used to synch the information on the PC of the person who set up the TrueCall unit."

No way of knowing if you have their equipment now or ever but that's a place to start looking.

your post has been escalated and you should hear soon.  In the meantime please check your community profile and add your landline number and/or account number so your account can be identified. Please don't post personal information here.
