Freezes in ad breaks an have to go out of app an restart programme, anyone else experiencing this ?

A few people have reported this recently.
You should be reporting this to C5.
It's an app issue and happens due to the programmes being in a different server to the adverts and the app is not switching back correctly to the programmes.
Sometimes a box reset works but normally not.
It can affect any app that has adverts and has in the past affected C4 and ITVX.
It can also affect different TVs and boxes at different times, as fixing makes issues then affects another, which is why you should inform C5 of the issue..
Tell them the device and the programme(s) you were accessing at the time.
Hope it's cured shortly.

There have been issues with the 5 app intermittently across many devices, and this is an issue with the App itself and beyond our control.
