What do I have to do to get a Talktalk engineer to visit my home?

I've had between 42 and 120  TV channels ( Should be 317) since 19th December.

Numerous phone calls have ensued and still Talk Talk are refusing to accept its from their end.

New box was sent on 6th Jan ( not when they said it would) and still the problems remain.

I was told it was more than likely my ariel that was at fault. Had that checked out and I'm still sitting here with just over 100 channels, yesterday I was on 42.

How do I get THEIR engineer out ?

Thanks.

Hi

Do connect the aerial directly to the TV and retune to see how many channels show on the TV.  This can often be a reception issue from the transmitter due toy weather conditions.

Thanks

Karl.

Oh, and as previously requested, can you confirm which box you have?

Thank you.

Hi. I'm back to 46 channels again.

Couldn't get ITV, Channel 4 etc.

I've now completely unplugged the Talktalk box and having to watch tv ( with ITV etc) through the ariel on my actual TV.

Is this proving that the Talktalk  box doesn't work?

I'm not sure where you are getting a figure of 317 channels from.

Freeview TV would be around 100 and radio 30.

There are channels in the 200 range that on some devices are available over the internet, but it utilises old technology that the boxes supplied by TalkTalk are not able to decide. There is a very technical reason for this and a Google search will give you this explanation. As the Freeview guide is generic across all devices, these are shown for all, but as said not all are available

As @ferguson has said reception issues cannot be handled by one of their engineers and if you have already consulted an installer then they would have configured this for maximum reception.

Try his suggestion of attaching the aerial to your TV, bypassing the box, and perform a retune. You should get a similar result, but not necessarily the exact same number due to variances in how the TV and Box tuners perform.

You can check what channels may be available in your postcode here, but again it's not guaranteed

https://www.freeview.co.uk/freeview-channel-checker

Hope this helps.

A TalkTalk enginner isn't going to be able to help you with a TV reception problem. Do you get the full array of channels when connected directly to your TV? Which TalkTalk TV box do you have?

I have moved this to the TV section for you.
