Huawei talktalk box not recording

Hi

 

My Huawei Talktalk box stopped recording halfway through a programme last night . I tried the Maintenance option Reset keeping recordings but unfortunately it’s just wiped the existing recordings and I still can’t record anything. I’m assuming the hard disc is corrupted and that the box will need replacement- how do I go about this ? Thanks.

Hi Neil,

 

It does sound as though the box has failed.  TalkTalk stopped providing these youview boxes 3 years ago and the box cannot be repaired or replaced.

 

You may be eligible for one of the new 4K Streaming boxes, but will be required to renew the contract if out of contract, and have TalkTalk entertainment added to your package.

TalkTalk now only supply non recordable ones or very limited via a usb stick on the 4k box. This also only has one tuner so you can only watch or record 1 channel at a time.

 

You may have to recontract to get one and will need to speak to the loyalty team if you want to go down this route.

Alternatively you could source your own box, either YouView on the grey market (I'd suggest somewher like CeX where you get a guarantee) or a Freeview+ box 

 

If you are paying a separate fee for TV and buy your own box, phone the loyalty team and get this removed.

PS try the full maintenance reset, lose recordings options as if your hard drive is repairable, this option formats the hard drive as if for first time use. It's worth a try first.
