Can you connect a storage device with videos to the usb connection to view the videos?

I hqave been trying the usb ports on both a TV hub and an old TV box. I suspected the usb on the old TV box might have been for engineer's use. I hav e tried connecting a storage device with media to my newest TV hub but I cannot open it and see the media.

So what make/model of TV box is it? If it's an old YouView box then the USB connector is for engineer use only.

Hi @bobhossack I think the provenance of the videos will determine the ability of the box to play them. Some of the copyright protection protocols could prevent playback. I tend to use my usb connection for recording and then play back.

Others will have a better idea than me.
