My TV hub box is showing the wrong programme information. The guide is correct but when you press the i button some of the channels have the wrong information about the programme. Does anyone have this problem?

@Mandisa-TT unfortunately these examples bear out where I have previously responded to on the 2 threads I have posted on.

In the old days I would have been on the Youview user panel and TalkTalk trials team, both of which are no longer, and have a more in depth knowledge of the whys and reasonings for the changes and made suggestions before the upgrade was released. Losing these channels, is, in my view a backwards step as there is now no user interface and the programmers do what they think customers want.

As I've said Youview are now so intransigent in their outlook that once released it is highly unlikely that any changes may be forthcoming.

The only thing I can suggest is you pass the negative feedback to the TV tech team and see if they will communicate to Youview, as Youview will no longer converse with the public.

A fix to suggest, might be to utilise the red button within the guide to show more information on the broadcast episode, but don't hold your breath.

As it stands, there is nothing that can be done to enhance this.

As I've said though, the picture quality using the streaming option is often better than the broadcast one, and I would recommend customers use catch up for this reason, just as I've been advocating the 100 channel range HD channels over the SD ones.

Adding programmes you watch to your watchlist and playing the latest one will then default to the latest episode you have not watched when available although it does mean getting used to changing the way you watch TV over the way you currently do

Hope this helps @Kerry53

@fr8ys , when you have a moment, would you be able to take another look at this?
Your insight into how the latest YouView interface behaves has been really valuable, and it would be great to get your thoughts on the examples Kerry has shared.

What you can try to do is checking the episode info using:

  • The broadcaster’s website/app
e.g. Channel 4’s live schedule or ITVX’s live channel info
  • The Freeview TV guide online
  • Or, where possible, using the TV’s built‑in tuner (bypassing the box)

@Kerry53 As part of a recent YouView update, when a programme is also available on a streaming app (Channel 4, ITVX, BBC iPlayer, etc.), the box prioritises the streaming version’s information rather than the live TV episode currently on air. Unfortunately, this means:

  • The guide still shows the correct title,
  • But the i‑button no longer gives the correct broadcast episode info,
  • And there is currently no alternative button on the box that will show that detail.

This is why you can’t see the specific episode for A Place in the Sun or Coronation Street Classics even though it's important for deciding what to watch.

At the moment, there isn’t a way to see the exact live broadcast episode number from the YouView box itself when the programme has a catch‑up version available.

it’s a limitation of the new YouView interface, and not something TalkTalk can change on our side.

As highlighted earlier by @fr8ys , the behaviour you’re seeing is linked to recent YouView interface changes. When a programme is also available via a catch‑up service, the Info (i) screen now prioritises the series overview or first‑episode metadata rather than the exact broadcast episode details. This is part of a wider update focused on integrating streaming options more closely within the guide.

I completely understand that this can feel confusing, especially when the guide lists one episode but the info panel displays different details. Although the guide itself is still accurate, the Info screen reflects the catch‑up content structure, which is why you’re seeing those mismatches on channels like ITV3 and BBC One.

Thanks for your reply, I’m not really sure what you mean though. For example on channel 4 right now now is A place in the sun, you can’t find the the correct broadcast episode info on the guide as it doesn’t give enough space to give you info about the current program and on the i button it gives info on series 1 episode 1. I have added photos to show. So please tell me how am I supposed to see what episode is currently on so I can decide if I want to watch it or not???

Hi @Kerry53

Thanks for the update — and I know how frustrating this must be when the info doesn’t match what you’re actually watching.

The program me details you see when pressing the “i” button are now coming from the streaming/catch‑up versions of the shows, not the live broadcast. This is part of a recent YouView update, so it’s expected behavior and not a fault with your box, aerial, or transmitter.

I know it’s not ideal, but you can still find the correct broadcast episode by checking the guide or looking under More Episodes.

If anything else looks odd, just let us know

As an aside, I looked up Coronation Street on ITVX, and series 1 episode 1 is, surprisingly, available, as are 60 series under the classic banner.

The common factor here is that all these series are available via catchup i.e they have an arrow showing in the guide.

Choosing one without an arrow seems to bring up a search button only.

This seems to be an update to the box to reflect that it is designed for streaming so you can get to other episodes quickly.

I agree that if you want more information on that particular episode, its not now user friendly, but you can find it by going to more episodes and finding it in the list.

Watching ITV3, and other stations like U via catchup does give a better quality picture than that being broadcast but the trade off is having to watch the annoying additional adverts before the programme starts, but as the box does not record, you have to watch in real time to avoid those, but you still have to watch them during the breaks.

There is now no public user group for YouView, to which I used to belong, so now YouView just drop what they see as enhancements without explanation leaving users to guess their motives. In this case giving users an enhanced picture quality via streaming seems to be the answer.

So for example looking this morning itv 3 says Lewis the point of vanishing on the guide but when you press I button it says series 1 episode 1 Reputation.  BBC 1 Gladiators 7/11 on the guide but on i button it says again series 1 episode 1

Every day on classic Coronation Street on ITV3 is currently showing episodes from 2006 but on i button it's says again series 1 episode 1 (09/12/1960)

As you've read under the other thread @Kerry53 , this is by design and TalkTalk have no control over the user interface so it's unlikely to be changed back.

I have checked with Freeview and the transmitter is coming from Bluebell Hill Kent. The picture quality is fine and not every channel as the wrong info just most of them.

With the help of another customer, I feel this is done by design.

And in addition, can you confirm which transmitter you pick up your signal from please?

Have you checked the Freeview site for any issues with the transmitter?

@Kerry53

Just an added thought: are the Freeview schedules showing correctly if the aerial is connected directly to your TV?
