Boost cancellation mid-cycle

Another post on behalf of my parents... they cancelled their unlimited calls boost on 9 November due to the price increase to £16.

They had already paid for this boost until 3 December according to their bill summary in their online account. As they had already paid for it, they were under the impression that cancelling the boost would only cancel it from 4 December onwards.

It now looks as though they've been billed for calls made since then. Can you confirm if that is correct?

Surely having paid for the unlimited calls boost until the 3 December any calls up to that date should be covered? Their account details are available in my private notes.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Hi richtea

The boost stops straight away when removed, even though the advance payment was taken, there will be a refund for the boost after the date they removed it, however the calls are now chargeable.

Sorry.

@richtea, @AllyM is absolutely right.

Anything you set up in a contract with Talktalk, whether the Broadband (with landline included) or the boosts applies basically that day.

Similarly anything you cancel applies that day.

The billing cycle is entirely separate.

You pay upfront for the contracted line, Broadband and any boosts. Changes made during that month will take effect immediately.

The subsequent bill will reflect the removal of the boost from day x, refund the cost of the boost covered previously from day x, and include charges for calls made (expensive per minute, whether local or national) since day x.

The boost will stop from the point they cancelled it on 9th November. Their next bill will include a refund of the portion they have paid for the boost from 9th November up to 3rd December.
