How to remove the standard answerphone service added on my landline

I want to turn off the standard 1571 answerphone that automatically cuts in on my home phone line. I have gone onto my talktalk account and there is no voicemail added to my account but I think it is automatically added to the network! Does anyone know how I get this turned off please.

Ummm, had you kept your phone line with BT but broadband with Talktalk?

 

I think there are a few customers that have kept that arrangement for historical  / legacy reasons.

 

If that was the case, it wasn't Talktalk's responsibility at all, was it, @CazWak?

Hi,

Talktalk we’re in fact hopeless, but I “think” I have now worked it out as it would seem that the voicetexts that keep making my landline ring and then give me junk voicetexts are linked to BT supplying the line. I have just turned mine off…..to do this you need to call BT (from the landline phone that is receiving the messages) on 0800 587 5252….. it then goes through a few different curfew options and if you press the button to “change” the curfew, you then get option 5 which then allows you to turn off voice texts on that line! It seemed to work but only time will tell!!!!

I think we had to opt out of it many years ago, @CazWak !

 

I think I unticked a box when they mentioned the change to the Plus version pending etc.

 

If you can't do this now (many features in My Account don't function correctly these days) you could ask them to remove it by calling 03451 720088 or using Chat.
