Amber light on router internet says incorrect password when trying to connect

My internet won’t work it’s showing up to connect to but when I try connect it says incorrect password and won’t connect iv never changed the password it’s the same as the one that came with the box, it has a solid amber light on the box sometimes flashes white and orange but not for long, I purchased a new modem cable as advised by talktalk but still no difference? Help?

If you want help, you cannot use someone else's thread.

To get help, you must start your own thread. To create your own thread, go to the main page for the board in question & click the "Start a topic" button.

TalkTalk insists on one thread per problem per customer. Please note, TalkTalk makes the rules, not me.

I’m having this same issue. I was talking to someone from TalkTalk over twitter message but they have stopped replying. Do I need a new router? I have had the same one since 2018 and the password has never been changed. Thanks, Claire

We have one socket with a phone and a broadband plug and it is currently connected to the test socket

I don’t have a phone to test, it will flash white and orange every now and again

Sorry to hear that you are experiencing problems with your service. Line test is passing, are you experiencing any problems with your telephone service, is there a dial tone?

I have asked one of TalkTalk's support to pick your thread up and investigate it for you.

They aim to respond within 48 hours (Monday - Friday) excluding Bank Holidays, but if more urgent you can always try the Service Centre on 0345 172 0088. The posts are responded to in time/date order, oldest first.
