Built-in Windows 10 VPN Not Working
on 18-11-2024 09:36 AM
Message 21 of 21
Hi. My Work VPN does not work. I'm using the Built-In Windows 10 Client and have noticed others in the forums having the same issue.
I've tried the following:
1) Disabled "Scam Protection"
2) Change Firewall setting from "Medium" to "Low"
Rebooted router, but no luck. I've set these back for now for security.
Do I need a specific firmware version? Any help appreciated.
Many thanks.

Hi Michelle. This is sorted now. We had to install another VPN Client software to get it working, which is fine. Please close the ticket.
Many thanks for your help.

Morning,
Thanks for trying and I'm sorry to hear this. VPN should work with our routers. Have you also contacted your IT department to see if they can offer any advice?
Thanks
Michelle

Hello,
The router is on the way and should arrive in the next 48hrs. There are no settings that we would recommend changing as VPN should just work with our router.
Thanks
Michelle

Hi. Sure. In the meantime would you have a list of technical things to try as I have no problem with tweaking advanced settings?
So far, I've tried:
1) Changing the firewall settings to "Low".
2) Turning Off "Scam Protection".
Anything else?
Many thanks.

Morning,
I'm sorry to hear this. Would you like us to send a replacement router for testing purposes to rule this out?
Thanks
Michelle

Morning Michelle. I tried resetting the router using the pin hole reset for ten seconds but it still does not work. Any other ideas would be appreciated.
Many thanks.

Hi Debbie. No, I installed the VPN myself. We have installation instructions that all employees have followed.
I will try resetting the route when back home and will let you know how I get on.
Many thanks.

Hi @cmhs101
Thanks for your reply.
Just to confirm, has your IT department installed the VPN client on your device/laptop?
Have you tried factory resetting the router using the pin hole reset for ten seconds?

Hi Debbie. No, it has not stopped working. This is the first time I have tried to set a VPN up. The "VPN Type" is:
L2TP/IPsec with pre-shared key
Also, just to add, it works for my colleague using a Windows 10 client, which is setup the same as mine, which suggests it is setup correctly on the server end, so does appear to be isolated to myself.
Many thanks.

Hi @cmhs101
I'm sorry to hear this.
I've checked and your router has the current firmware version which should work ok for VPN.
Has this only just stopped working? (and was working ok previously on your TT connection)
