I recently upgraded to fibre 150 from 65 and not really seeing any benefit. Via wifi on my main machine im getting same 10-20mb download i got before. So I wanted to confirm what im getting to the router. I have devolo clan around the house and tried plugging the ethernet from that into my mac but even then i still get 10-20mb like i do on wifi. Logged in to the router and cant see anywhere that tells me the speeds. On the old router it showed you. I asked support but as usual got nowhere. My laptop doesnt have a ethernet socket so i cant plug it into the router. How am i supposed to confirm the speed i am getting?I cant run ethernet everywhere so thinking im wasting my money.

Hi @Hammerzzz
Have you tried disconnecting & turning off all of the Devolo DLAN 500 units & just connecting a nearby device to the router's WiFi? If so, what speeds did you get then? This is an important diagnostic step to try & prove if this is a router issue or not.

I have devolo dlan 500 around the house plugged into mains. The base unit is connected to the router via ethernet. Then my main mac i have a unit plugged into mains right next to the mac. I get circa 20mb do wload if plugged into mains to ethernet on the devolo or via wifi. i may as well downgrade to fibre 65

Thanks. The speed measured in the router only applies to VDSL (FTTC) or below, not full fibre. Your current router would display the speed if connected to your old package. To get similar information on Full Fibre, it would need a speed test facility to be built into the router. This is because on FTTC etc, the router includes its internal modem to terminate the copper cabling, whereas on Full Fibre this is done via the ONT, which does not provide such information to the router.
Which Devlo product is the CLAN, I can only find a DLAN (powerline adapter) and how is this connected to the Sagemcom router?

Thank you so much for advising @KeithFrench 🙂

Hi @Hammerzzz
I would guess, therefore, that you either have the Sagemcom FAST5464 (Wi-Fi Hub 2) or the Sagemcom FAST5359 (Wi-Fi Hub 3). What happens if you connect a laptop or other wired (Ethernet) device directly to the ONT in place of the router & run a speed test from there? What speeds do you get? This will determine the speed of the fibre itself coming into your property to help diagnose where the problem is.

Hi there @Hammerzzz. I am very sorry to hear that you are still receiving less speeds even after upgrading. Please let us know what make/model of router do you have?
