TalkTalk Super Router
Had frequent problems for the last week  (and general problems for the last few moths)
Green DSL led is on
but Internet led is Red

Connecting to the SuperRouter shows the DSL is up
(and phone line etc also works)
But it cant see to get a WAN ipv4 address?
Internet, Internet Connection page shows
Internet_VDSL
Access type VDSL
IPv4 status:  Connecting   then Disconnected, then Connecting

Turning router off and leaving for 20 minutes (as suggested by Talktalk support) sometimes works

Its currently playing up again
(Im on mobile data to post this message ...)

I'll order the router now, you should receive it within a couple of working days (it uses network authentication so doesn't require a username and password)

ok please supply another router

Technical Q - Does the router come pre-configured with the internal talktalk customer id and password, as I see no setting like that in my existing one.
Or maybe thats 'old school' and it doesnt need one at it detects your customer info automatically from the telephone line it connects to

I think it's worth trying a router as the next step would be to arrange an engineer visit

Maybe, but would that actually help ?
As I say the DSL connection is fine
its the exchange/isp end not giving it an ipv4 address that seems to be the issue

Have you tested with another router? If not I can arrange to send one to test with?

No problems with telephone line
no noise
As I say the DSL connects 100% fine, its just frequently not getting, or losing the WAN ipv4 address

Hi stephc2929,

Line test is passing but I can see that there have been a lot of reconnections over the last few days. Are you experiencing any problems with your telephone service, any noise on the line?

Has just started working again !
Maybe the line test I did / requested a few minutes ago helped trigger it?
But its so unreliable over the past week
and cant understand why it keeps having these issues
To repeat, the DSL connection is 100% fine - it something at the exchange / ISP end that is unable to give it a WAN ipv4 address for some reason

14763068

line test is always ok  (and DSL connects ok)

it just cant seems to get internet access

(and even when it is working, seems to drop or loose internet access several times a day)

typo: says Connecting    then later Disconnected

(this is the status inside the router)

when it does work, and shows Connected, I sew an WAN ip4 address in another page under  (cant remeber exactly at present)
