Frequently no internet connection

I am having regular internet connection issues.  Many times per day, the internet connection will drop, from between 10 seconds up to 4 or 5 minutes.  This has only happened since returning to home working after New Year 2023.  No issues before this time.  I stay connected to the router.  The orange light does not come on during the drop out – the white light on my Huawei router usually stays on.

Logging in to the router suggests internet connection is working correctly; this is not my user experience.  Makes working from home using teams (without video) impossible.

Most noticeable with wireless devices (basically all that I have).

I read another post here which talked of kernel panic.  To note, my TalkTalk Wi-Fi Hub is a model DG8041W, firmware version v1.05t.

I have no issues with my telephone service.  My router is connected to the master socket.  I have no other Telephone sockets in my house.  I have made zero changes to the sockets, cables, etc.

Hi,

thank you for this suggestion.

For information, i did power off the router overnight, and powered up around 6:30.

I have had 3 dropouts whilst watching youtube.

I had a dropout at 07:51 which said "a network change was detected" - the debug log in the router was the only log i read which had an entry at this same time.

According to my router information, i have 84 wi-fi devices and 6 wired devices - most of these are offline, unnamed or i do not remember what they are - at the moment, there are 12 online connected devices.

Is a restore defaults settings worthwhile?

nonetheless, i will wait until monday without switching off and update you.

Morning,

Thanks for the update. I'd recommend leaving the router switched on as switching the router off and on too often can sometimes result in DLM changing the profile if the connection looks unstable. We'll check back in with you on Monday morning to see how the stability/connection has been over the weekend.

Thanks

Karl, Hi, internet gremlins have mostly been away 4 hours on.  the update from 1.05t to 1.06t seems to have helped.  A few drop outs but certainly not as many.  use of teams and facebook is improved, but both have dropouts when used for more than a few minutesNot sure if i should have waited longer to let you know, should i leave everything (router and devices) switched on as they are just now, should i switch things off overnight, should i switch off the router overnight?
