Keeping landline

My current contract with TalkTalk is up, and i have the option of switching to a competitor, but i have been told i cannot keep my landline number if i change providers. I am not moving home, so whats the issue with keeping my number, can anyone explain please?

Sorry that you are thinking of leaving us. 

 

There shouldn't be any issues transferring the number the provider should follow the gaining provider process and request the number off us.

It might depend which company you are moving to as they don't always have porting agreements, @dazzleking.
