New TalkTalk router blocking VPN connection

Hi there,

 

I recently received my new TalkTalk router (Sagemcom router with bronze holes). However, I am unable to connect to my work VPN.

 

The IT department at my work have tried everything to resolve the issue, but its still not working. I have also called TalkTalk and they asked me to use an ethernet cable, but that didn't work either.

 

I have seen other threads suggesting that the Firmware needs updating.

 

Would it be possible for someone to resolve this issue for me please.

Hi I’m am having the same issue. My work IS team even did a hard reset on my laptop, which had got it working for now but it’s very frustrating

Where do I get the latest firmware update from.

Apologies. Would you be able to update the Firmware to Version 174 again please, as the router was not connected today.

 

The router is now connected.

I updated the firmware to version 174, this should work ok with VPN.

 

Please can you try powering down the router for a full 30 minutes?

V136 does have VPN issues, but I assumed that you had been upgraded to V158.

I will ask my IT department tomorrow regarding the protocols.

 

Also, I can confirm that my Firmware is Version SG4K100136.

Thank you for updating the Firmware.

 

I have tried to connect to my work VPN, but I am still unable to connect. It keeps getting stuck at "Waiting for connection..." as shown below.

The router firmware is listed at the bottom of every page, including the login page. It will say version & end in something like 136 or 158.

 

I do not know this VPN client, but can you find out from your IT team if it tries to connect using one of these protocols:-

  1. PPTP
  2. L2TP with preshared key or certificate
  3. SSTP
  4. IKEv2

I am currently using WatchGuard Mobile VPN with SSL to connect to my work VPN.

 

Also, do you know where I can find the Firmware in which my Sagemcom router is running?

What firmware is the Sagemcom router running?

 

I have tested all VPN clients & setups that I can & most work through this router on the latest firmware. Which VPN client are you using and what type of VPN connection is it using?
