Roll back firmware?

Is it possible to roll back my router firmware to what it was before I received the WiFi extender?

The priority is for people to be able to hear me on my mobile.

Wifi calling doesn't appear to have worked since the latest version.

I hear other people fine, but after a few sentences, they lose me. Sometimes they don't even get opening words....

Have managed a proper phone call for the first time in a month.

Hoping that the software engineers do more thorough testing moving forward....!

Thanks for rolling it back, @Chris-TalkTalk!

@Chris-TalkTalk, others are confirming that the firmware has been rolled back.

Mine has not!

Had to ask an insurer to ring my landline after it was impossible for them to hear me properly, and it's incredibly stressful for my mother if I ring and she can't hear me.

This has been so poor, as that firmware has caused problems for so many people and not just wifi calling. Whole days of people losing work with their VPNs - shameful. Obviously not rigorous enough testing prior to the rollout.

@Chris-TalkTalk, I NEVER use WhatsApp for phone calls.

These calls are all made from my mobile with data switched off and so a completely bog standard mobile call.

I don't have time to redact individual phone numbers so have cut out all but the time shown in the logs. Date unfortunately gets cut off too due to their layout.

Calls in July showing mostly wifi calling symbol:

Week of 10th August. Call at top of list was the first bad one, on 16th August, and the only call made after version changed:

Sample from this week: zilch wifi calling:

Sorry that the image quality appears to be poor after cropping. Was supposed to be "enhanced"!

OK thanks Gliwmaeden2. The product team have asked the following: Can you also ask, if it’s a wi-fi call via mobile network that has issues or WhatsApp calls? Can they share any screenshots where the call is via Wi-Fi? It shows on the top of the mobile UI if the call is via Wi-Fi or alternatively in the call logs.

Thanks

@Chris-TalkTalk, the last call I  made from my phone at home that actually shows the WiFi symbol in the logs was on 10th August.

I didn't make any other calls from home that week.

Staff changed the firmware on 12th August to version 202.

Since then, NO CALLS MADE AT HOME on my smartphone worked with WiFi calling.

However, calls made from my self-catering cottage 17th-24th August all worked with WiFi calling in that house.

I think that this proves it's got nothing to do with the phone make / software version or mobile operator, but everything to do with Sagemcom's latest firmware.

Call quality happened to be a little better just now, but that was maybe just with better weather anyway, @Chris-TalkTalk, or Samsung's own efforts. Had to be a short call as the recipient was in a hurry.

Still no WiFi calling symbol showing at all.

I'm not using either of the extenders just now.

Not plugged in - couldn't get the lights to show correctly on:

Fast266 UK V2 Serial Number JY23103GY007816

And I  have not got anywhere yet with the one Fr8ys sent me because I understand that it needs the earlier version of the firmware anyway....and feel somewhat daunted. And don't have instructions with it.

Sagemcom Fast 266 UK

SERIAL no: QR21296GD000244

So the extenders should not be relevant.

This morning Samsung sent an update to my phone. It still shows:

One UI version 6.1

Android version 14

Kernel version dated 27th August

SE for Android Status enforcing 28th August

Security software version ASKS v8.1 ......

ADP v3.1

SMR Sep-2024 Release  1

Android Security patch level

1 September 2024

I'll see if the latest update to the phone makes any difference if I try making a call now, @Chris-TalkTalk.

Sorry, no update yet, I'll let you know as soon as I have more information

Any update or timescale?

It's becoming very difficult to get anything done over the smartphone and I am not paying for a landline boost. So calling  out on the landline at 24p a minute is not an option when I wait on hold for a company to answer after 20 minutes....

At least my smartphone is all inclusive calls, but to have terrible difficulty being understood as the signal is so appalling wastes everyone's time and adds stress!

I have no difficulty hearing the agent I am calling. They have trouble getting important information details from me!
