I have a Sagemcom FAST 5364 router and noticed recently that there is an option now to have a guest network. However, when I set this up I found that it doesn't work!!
It would appear that there is a DNS server problem - the network addresses on the guest network are 192.168.8.* but the DNS server address is set to 192.168.1.1 instead of 192.168.8.1 and there doesn't appear to be a way to change this!
Please can you tell me what I need to do to fix this?
Thanks

Hi @Buckgeraint
All firmware is automatically updated, you cannot do it yourself anyway. It sounds to me that you do not need the guest network at all, you need to address why this device cannot connect. It could be down to WiFi interference or other issues I can help with.
To get help, you must start your own thread. To create your own thread, go to the main page for the board in question & click the "Start a topic" button. Feel free to @mention me into it.
TalkTalk insists on one thread per problem per customer. Please note, TalkTalk makes the rules, not me.
Thanks.

Hi Keith,
Thanks for the reply. Shame that this hasnt been fixed as it seems strange to offer something that clearly doesnt work.
Annoyingly its due to my Solar Dongle which doesnt connect to 5ghz band and so doesnt transfer data to the app unless I switch the 5ghz channel off. I thought creating a 2.4guest channel and allocating the dongle to that would sort the issues. Finger crossed for the new firmware then? Can I ask does that get automatically updated to routers or is that something we have to do ourselves ?
In another forum I'm on its often frowned upon to start a new thread for a problem that is already being discussed. Funny how forums differ.
See your name pop up quite often @KeithFrench so i'm sure the support you offer is much appreciated
Thanks
Geraint

Hi @Buckgeraint
Strictly speaking, you need to create your own thread. However, as it is a quick answer, yes it is still an outstanding issue. I have heard that there might be a new version of firmware (I do not know the date) if it passes the testing phase it is currently going through. I have no idea what fixes this might contain until I test it.

There are all sorts of bugs affecting guest networks at the moment. I have just tried to replicate this and I do not get allocated a vaild IP address at all, just the Windows APIPA 169.254 one. I will raise this and the issue you get, which again is obviously wrong, with the developers later today.
I don't use guest networks as the router only has the one radio so it all shares the same channel.
