Transfer of existing landline number to new provider

Hi

I have decided to switch to vodafone from tt on 16 Sept 2022. Is there any way I can find out if my existing landline number will be ported to vodafone?

When I completed the online form from vf it told me that I could not keep my existing landline number??? Their system error message said that either I have moved (incorrect) or the landline number I have linked to my address is wrong (also incorrect as we have had same address and landline number for over 40 years). I have called vf and they say they may be able to preserve it. 

Is there anything that I or talktalk need to do to ensure that my existing landline number is switched correctly??

There is a porting agreement with vodafone so there shouldn't be a problem requesting the number.

That's up to Vodafone. They are notorious at not porting numbers in. TalkTalk cannot prevent it, they need the gaining provider to request it from them.
