UNABLE TO ACCESS CITYWIRE WEBSITE

As of this morning I am unable to reach citywire.com website via broadband. This is a well known financial news website I have used almost daily for many years. It is unreachable on any of my devices (mobile phone, laptop, etc). It works just fine on my mobile phone if I turn off wifi and use mobile internet instead.  When it fails to reach the site it almost looks like I have no broadband internet connection but that is not the case as all other sites are reachable as normal. In fact I am using this forum website using broadband. I have rebooted my router but it made no difference. I have not touched or made changes to any of my router settings in yonks. Nor to any of my devices either. Any suggestions as to how to fix this?

After exactly 3 weeks I can now access the Citywire website over broadband once again. Guess it has finally been removed from the naughty list. Not exactly a quick process.

 

Also I can now login via the forum page again, rather than being forced to do so via My Account.

Furthermore, the login code emails are no longer going to my Spam folder as they always did hitherto.

 

Wonders will never cease 🙂

I hope the website is re-classified soon, Been 4 days so far.

 

Whilst the Login process from the Community page is still not working I can access Community via MyAccount once I found the link which was not obvious to me.

Sometimes a website can be miss classified, it does happen from time to time, but is usually rectified quickly.

 

With regards to Community, if you log into My Account  can you then access community from the link within My account ?

From the outset it seemed clear to me something at TT network level was blocking my access to this website as I had no issues using mobile internet. So, after reading one of your Fixit guides, I disabled Virus Alerts within my routers Homesafe settings. Bingo! I immediately regained access to Citywire. As soon as I re-enabled Virus Alerts access was blocked again. So what's going on?

 

All day Saturday I was unable to sign into this forum. Either security codes arrived after their expiry time, didn't arrive at all or the website didn't even state a code had been sent after entering my email address. The latter problem persists this morning and I was only able to sign in on my phone (using WiFi).

If you click 'continue to website anyway' does it then load the site correctly.

So leaving router off for a good 2hrs made no difference either. However when I tried to access the website on my old laptop I was redirected to a PXC page warning me it was a Phishing site. I believe PXC are part of TalkTalk! So have you blacklisted it or something?

I had previously tried clearing browser cache and again just now but it makes no difference.

I use the site daily so yesterday would have been my last visit.

 

I have to go out for a few hours so will turn off router for all that time to see if that helps.

Will let you know later how that works out, which I guess you will pick up on tomorrow.

Thanks for trying that. Could you just try clearing the cache/history in the browser and then check again.

 

I know you said that it's not been working today but do you know if it was working yesterday, when was the last time that you tried to access the website before today?

OK thanks, can you switch the router off and leave it off for at least 30 minutes, then switch back on and retest Please let us know how you get on
