Genuine emails not coming through but spam does

Legitimate emails are not arriving in my talktalk inbox at all. They're not being sent to spam, they just never arrive.

I’m locked out of many of my premium subscription accounts because I’m not able to receive the two factor codes to my talktalk address.

So far, I've discovered genuine emails from Disney Plus, Nintendo, Spotify and talktalk are not coming through at all. The irony of a talktalk email account not being able to receive official talktalk emails isn't lost on me.

I do receive massive amounts of actual, unblockable spam every day though so obviously something has gone horribly wrong with the filtering. Is there a way to whitelist addresses or reset things back to default?

I've looked, but can't find any option to do this, which is crazy.

Thanks

Hi @MisterStu

Isn't your gmail.com email address, the one used as a username to login to your main TalkTalk MyAccount?
If it is, then all sending TalkTalk email addresses will send to that same gmail.com address.
This includes the verification code sent from the TalkTalk Community when one logs into the TalkTalk Community.
Your TalkTalk account CAN receive that verification code, after automatically being forwarded from gmail.com, which is after gmail.com having been setup that way.
As far as 2FA verification codes from 'spotify, netflix, disney, nintendo, sony.....etc' go, I've never tested them. Have you actually whitelisted them or 'Allowlisted' them in the newish TalkTalk webmail?

"I had to use my gmail email in order to create a new account for the talktalk forums, because my actual talktalk email address can't receive the verification login codes from talktalk themselves!"

As far as TalkTalk is concerned, all their outgoing emails have to go to a non-TalkTalk email account. eg gmail.com.

So, if a customer chooses Gmail.com, he can certainly forward back all those TalkTalk emails intended for him, to a TalkTalk email account. I don't know about other combinations of emails coming from other companies. i.e. non-TalkTalk. and non-Gmail.

I had to use my gmail email in order to create a new account for the talktalk forums, because my actual talktalk email address can't receive the verification login codes from talktalk themselves!

I still cannot receive emails from disney, spotify or nintendo to my talktalk inbox. I have whitelisted the domains, but they're being blocked before they even get routed to the inbox.

Disney were aware of the issue when I contacted them last week regarding this.

It's so frustrating, because my talktalk email is the address 2FA codes are sent to. If I can't receive these codes, I'm locked out of many other accounts, like spotify, netflix, disney, nintendo, sony.....etc

Maybe I should send a bill to talktalk for the premium accounts that I can't access because of their ineptness?

Yes, how embarrassing of TalkTalk, not being able to send you the monthly bill to your .talktalk.net or .tiscali.co.uk email account.

I, myself, have so far gone along with their non-sensical method of routing everything via a non-TalkTalk email account, and then back again to TalkTalk. But even that, did not solve the TalkTalk problem. Just in the last few days, all incoming TalkTalk emails, from whatever sending TalkTalk email address, ended in the 'Spam' folder, instead of the Inbox folder. Now that required heavy lifting on my part, to correct that newly arisen problem.

Remember, no AI can do that.

@Billx has actually helped me, unlike the 'support team' so I'm not sure why you're being so heavy-handed with them?

Not a good look.

I'm out of contract now, so I'll be switching to an isp that doesn't have constant issues.

The amount of people on here complaining about their email is staggering. Talktalk should be ashamed that it's falling apart for many of its users. I've had issues for months, so it's clear it's not a priority for you.

Talktalk even sent me a letter through the post telling me they can't send email bills to my talktalk email address. How embarrassing is that?

Hi @MisterStu

You should know by now how to do it.

You say "I know you can click on an email to allow or block it, but I need to actually receive an email to do this."

No that does not work.

@Billx

Re-read the opening comments and then refrain from posting further. Leave it to the support team.

Where is that setting?

I know you can click on an email to allow or block it, but I need to actually receive an email to do this.

So, @MisterStu , you are using TalkTalk webmail, not non-TalkTalk webmail?

(I think @Chris-TalkTalk meant TalkTalk webmail.)

If you are using TalkTalk webmail, there are settings within that,

like the Allowlist, to confirm that certain email addresses are OK to be received.

and the Blocklist, to confirm that certain email addresses are NOT OK to be received.

Try that, and see if it makes a difference.

Hi MisterStu,

Are you access your email through webmail or do you use a mail client?
