Hi

I keep getting this message....

Sending of the message failed.
An error occurred while sending mail. The mail server responded:
X2M0ptKzKrEXi Too Many Recipients (TT501).
Please check the message recipient  and try again

Now I know there is limit on emails but this email is to 15 people only and

I have waited over 24 hours for the server to reset and every time I send it I get the above error message.

Is it possible that my own limit is set too low ? Is there a problem with the server ?

Any help please ?

Thanks

In that case I would, as a security measure, upgrade the password.

The Reset password now button in the help article  Changing your email password will take you to password reset and recovery.

If you have set up password recovery options, in advance, that you recognise from the *****hints, then you can send your alternate email address a link or your mobile a 6-digit code to authorise a password reset.

If the spam protection system has imposed rate limiting as a security measure then upgrading a weak password and waiting for 24 hours by not sending any mail messages should get the rate limiting automatically removed.

Hi Gondola

Thanks for the help, you asked............

"Just prior to getting the first TT501 stop on sending how many recipients do you think you had sent to during the previous hour? NB not the number of emails but the total number of recipients in each send and summed up over an hour."

I didnt send any new messages in the previous hour. I have checked the sent mail in webmail and appears normal.

I am using the uk network not a VPN.

Thanks again for the help

Too many recipients (TT501) means that your mailbox has exceeded an email sending limit in the last hour - it's a temporary spam protection measure; the counter will be reset in the next hour.

Just prior to getting the first TT501 stop on sending how many recipients do you think you had sent to during the previous hour? NB not the number of emails but the total number of recipients in each send and summed up over an hour.

For example you mention a distribution list of 15 recipients. You would normally be able to send that 3 times in the hour along with a handful of single emails.

If the TT501 regularly appears even when sending only a few mail messages then there are other things to consider. Check the webmail Sent objects folder for mail messages that aren't yours just in case someone else is using your mailbox. Anything suspicious and change the password.

There are circumstances that can trigger a lower sending limit. Using mail via a non-UK network, a network where the IP address is a non-UK address or using a VPN where the VPN host is outside the UK.

What's happening when using the VPN is that TalkTalk Mail is detecting multiple concurrent connections from geographically distanced access points.

For example, when signed in to TalkTalk Mail from your home broadband connection directly but also via a VPN server that could be in another country. It's the geographic separation that causes TalkTalk Mail to think your mail may have an unauthorised sign in.

If you use the VPN connection then first sign out other TalkTalk Mail connections that aren't via the VPN and the mail security will not detect a conflict.
