Unable to access emails using app since 26 Jan 23.

My wife is unable to access her talktalk email address using an app on her ipad and tablet. We have followed the instructions on a link on a recent email but the mail will still not come through. We changed the port numbers for incomimg and outgoing mail but when we try save them, an user name and password error message keeps appearing. Any help will be gratefully received.

Hi Sheffboy, please add your wife's email address to private notes in your community profile so that I can have it restored to normal.

Please log in to My Account if you need to view or pay your bill, manage boosts and track your usage. From My Account you can also check your connection and test your line for any issues in the Service Centre.

Hi Paul

 

TalkTalk will notify in advance of TalkTalk Mail being limited to webmail only access if:

 

  • You're not a TalkTalk Consumer home broadband customer or MailPlus subscriber
    Or the mailbox address is not added to an active customer MyAccount
  • Any device email software, email app, or mail collection service connects to your mailbox using insecure settings
    Secure mail connections to your mailbox must all be made using a minimum of TLS 1.2 encryption security and sign in using the email address and email password
  • There's continued use of out of date email software, operating system or legacy email settings
    We can advise on device and software compatibility and provide customer setup guides

Looks like changing the settings on the iPad and tablet were too late to avoid the last resort withdrawal of IMAP access due to continued use of insecure settings.  Webmail will still work via a browser.

 

Select here: Sign in to TalkTalk Mail

Enter her full TalkTalk Mail email address and password, select Sign in.

 

What model iPad and what model tablet? Are there any other ways she collects her mail messages? Computer, other phone, mail collection service? All must use secure settings. Asking so we can provide advice on compatibility. Some devices or software does not support secure mail to the required standards. Guides given below.

 

The devices will not authenticate a connection until TalkTalk Support restore full access. That'll be requested for you / her.

 

Prepare for TalkTalk Support - include in the Community Profile (not in these public posts):

Account holder name, TalkTalk home 'phone number (if not Data Only broadband)

Alternative mobile contact number. Full address with postcode (in the Location box)

Scroll down to Private notes to add the customer email address and account number

Check and Save changes
