Extending wi fi range

I have the latest router but have issues in getting a  wi-fi signal in the rooms that are further away from the router. I have a wi-fi extender but the signal still isnt great. I am trying to find out the best way of strengthening the connection. Which is best, a network extender or wi-fi extender? I wondered if a wi-fi extender kit connected by Ethernet cable was the same as a network connector... just £15 cheaper.

Wrongly configured they can easily make things worse. Slow speed, intermittent dropouts, breaks in the signal, or no signal on some or all devices, might be caused by Wi-Fi interference from other local networks, which can also lead to a permanent reduction in speed. No ISP can be responsible for your local environment, this is mainly a by-product of the popularity of Wi-Fi.

Generally speaking, the 2.4GHz band suffers much more from interference than the 5GHz band, but the 2.4GHz one can sometimes have a better range, but this all depends on your local area.

To enable me to help you, please can you specify the make/model of TalkTalk router that you are using?

Thanks Keith, im using the latest TalkTalk router - Antenna Array . I just dont know whether to buy more wifi extenders or network connectors. Then can i use the same network connector thats wired to the router to pair all extenders (wifi and Ethernet connected). Alternatively is an ethernet cable on a wifi extender as good as a ethernet cable on a network connector

What is the make/model of router and Wi-Fi Extender are you using? The next step is to see how congested your airwaves are & often simple reconfiguration of router/extender can sort this. I can offer a lot of help if you want it.
