I have been suffering a very slow service for days. Tried to run the TalkTalk speed test and it is not working and hasn’t been for months. Ran Ookla and only getting 14Mbps Download speed not the normal 35+ that I was getting. Have tried switching off router, leaving for 30+ minutes and rebooting on six occasions now and the service is still very slow. Tried disconnecting WiFi on several devices and still no improvement.  No faults on TalkTalk service are showing? Very, very disappointed as this is not what I’m paying £43 a month for. Suspect service is being deliberately slowed down to force me into an upgrade, which my pension won’t stretch to!

Morning Fetlar13,

How have you found your speeds over the last 48hrs?

Thanks

Hi….I’ve run 2 speeds on Ookla and 2 on the Sam Knows as suggested by Karl, your colleague. All coming out in the 30 to 31.5 Mbps range….as I said not what is was but it’s better than past few days. Thanks for the help.

Hi

Glad the speed has improved.  Speed tests are like weather reports, no two are exactly the same, so always try a few, rather than putting your faith in just one.  I often use Sam Knows Speedtest   as an alternative to check.

Thanks

Karl.

Something has unclogged the system, as I have ran the Ookla speed test 4 times now and speed is at or around 31Mbps, still not as quick as it was but apparently 40 is the best I can hope for on the copper cables? By the way what is wrong with the TalkTalk speed test facility, it never seems to work?

Something has happened because speed has now gone up to 31.3 Mbps?

Debbie

I am not tech savvy, a pensioner who struggles with it. All I know is I haven’t altered anything on the set up and my service is frustratingly slow.

Sorry I can’t be of more use

Hi Fetlar13

Would it be possible to connect the router at the test socket? (just for testing purposes)

Everything is set up as normal.

Hi Fetlar13,

Line test is passing but sync speed is low. Is your router currently connected to your test socket?
