Good morning
Any chance to get a a new free router sent to us?

After 4-5 years and also being an old model, I guess it is time.
Better, if it had external antenna or antenna socket.

Please reply with what to do - I am never here and do not know how you work.
Email does not exist any more with larger Companies, therefore forum it is!

Hi

If you start your own thread (new message), we’d love to help.

We’ve found that posting in someone else’s conversation makes it harder to follow when looking for an answer.

It’s easier and quicker if we can chat with you in a single thread, if you start your own thread, that will keep our community organised and help others with a similar problem.

Check your home phone number or account number are also added to your Community Profile as that will really help us to find your details quicker.

Thanks

Karl

My router is over six years old, if  there is more than one device being used I can't watch Netflix, or catch up TV.

Should I have a updated router?

Yes, My Connection.

It was tried on both lines.

Also both old and new modem/routers.

Strange.

It is no problem, I just wanted to let you know.

Hi TorqueTorqueBIS

Was this test using My Connection?

Was everything working ok when you ran the test?

... one thing...

I noticed on my home line and also at work (I have two TT connections), when I went to do a 'check line'... in both cases the system said 'you have a problem' we will investigate etc.

On both? Strange.

Then there was a kind of ticket open for both lines.

One or two days after I went to do a speed test and your TT speed test (which probably is BT behind it) was not working.

Maybe IT was working on your system?
Using BT speed test is OK.

Just informing you.

Good morning
Well, it seems far better and I guess this slightly newer model either had the 5Ghz powered up or the older one 'never' worked properly.

At present I still reach 95% of achievable speed on this particular PC and on my phone I exceeded 75Mbps.

So, finally high and stable - hopefully will last.
When I am active on my computers I do a lot of things and speed is important all the time (being in IT and Electronics and other high speed need Application used in Sound and Video.

Thanks Ladies, for the exchange - older one was sent back to you.

Good morning
As you probably know - if you have checked tracking and also connecting it,
we received it yesterday afternoon - a model a bit newer, judging by its model number, but I was a bit busy with many other things to do ... and make work.

I did manage to do 'some' tests, but it still is on trial.

Bear in mind this router is at 5m and I see it through a house window into a conservatory - 5m and visible!

The old one:

33-37Mbps at 2.4GHz
25-35Mbps at 5GHz
The 5GHz has almost always been very low and that PC sees the router 'through' a window.
I always used the 2.4GHz - although it is the most used and crammed by neighbouring signal too and older equipment using the b and other older transmission which do not help on overall speed on other newer devices - this is a fact.
Even a microwave oven disturbs being around 2.4GHz!

Using a new mobile phone near PC got about 62GHz - mobiles are usually better - especially newer ones.

The new one:

39-45Mbps at 2.4GHz
69Mbps over 72-75 at 5GHz - I guess the slightly newer model maybe had the 5GHz improved or simply the old router was going to die soon?

Anyway, at present is OK.

We will see as we go along.

But 5m through a window you get that signal so down? mmm

That is why it is time to STOP using them and start with ones that have aerials on it - at least 2 and also a RF output if a user which to add a external 'proper' aerial - I have one.

Got another PC upstairs, but I added a RF internal card with an external 'small' aerial 'behind a wall' and it has always been faster than the main PC.

This confirms how very low propagation these routers have without an antenna.

Let's see how it goes.

PS will send other as soon as I have the time, already packed.

Also I only replaced router, all cables and PSU are the old ones, to see if router was the problem - mainly and it was.
But we will see for how long.

Good morning
OK, thanks for the offer.

Please send to account address, but please state - deliver to rear of house - better for us and the carrier.
If possible, if not - it is OK.

I will certainly return other one using your returns bag.

Thank you
