Router restarts twice back to back
on 26-11-2024 09:06 PM
Several times a day my router will do a full restart twice before coming back and working ok for a number of hours before restarting twice again.
It happens randomly and not at set times during the day.

Hi
OK. I just want you to be confident the handset itself is ok. Would you like to progress to an engineer now ?
Thanks
Karl.

Yes, both phones and both bases for the phones are identical with the exception of the port for the phone line.

Hi
Do you mean it is a remote handset connected to the base station of the first handset ?
Karl.

I have a second handset in my kitchen that also has noise on dial tone.
But it's only a secondary phone if that makes sense, it doesn't have the port at the base for the telephone line to plug into. It only has one port for the power. Does this suffice as as test?

Hi
If you do not have another handset, you can test your handset at a friend or neighbours phone socket for 2 minutes just so you are confident that the handset itself is not at fault.
Thanks
Karl.

Hi
I disconnected the router and the noise is still there. I don't have another handset to test unfortunately

Hello again,
Thank you. I've re-run the line test now which is now suggesting that we arrange an engineer visit to the property. Just to confirm, is the noise/static also present on the line with the router removed? Do you also have a different handset that you could test with just to rule this out?
Thanks
Michelle

that's it connected to the test socket
There's still some static noise on the dial tone when connected this way.

Hello,
Yes please can you connect the microfilter, router and phone at the test socket and we can re-run the line test again in this set up.
Thanks

There's slight static noise on the dial tone.
Yes, the main socket has a test socket. Would you like me connect the phone line and adsl cable into it? I use the microfilter to do that?

Morning,
I'm sorry to hear this. I've run a test on the line now which has detected a potential voice fault. Are you experiencing any issues with the voice service such as noise on the line or no dial tone? Does your main socket also have a test socket please?
Thanks
Michelle
