Sold my house and need the service cut off

I bought a new house three weeks ago and moved in with a new internet provider providing the service. They tried to contact TalkTalk to make the switch but it failed to go through properly, so I had to get a new number. I contacted TalkTalk directly to cancel my account yesterday. The first two calls with customer service agents strangely dropped when I said there was no chance I could be persuaded to stay with TalkTalk. I then informed the third agent that I was recording the call and totally unpredictably that one stayed on the line. I was told I could cancel but it would take thirty days to process the cancellation. The problem is the new owners move in in two days and will need to make use of the phone line themselves. I have wasted an hour today being bumped from one department and then back to the first to find a solution. The last agent told me I needed to cancel the cancellation so the new owners would be able to make the switch to a new provider. But as he was reading out the terms and conditions, that call dropped as well. All this is a great example of why I chose not to continue with TalkTalk at my new address. In the meantime, though, I need a solution to the issue that doesn't rely on an infinite number of phone calls riddled with incorrect information and line drops. Is there anyone here who can help me?

Hi PRS23

Would the new owners consider taking over the service at the address via a change of ownership?

You will be billed to cover the 30 day notice period, @PRS23.

Phone them again to check whether the actual service can cease as soon as possible.

Their reasoning in asking the new owners to put in an order is that it would likely happen sooner, so spare you paying for the full 30 days.

However, if the new owner puts in Full Fibre, it won't of itself cancel a FTTC or ADSL connection and you'd still have to inform them of your cancellation yourself.

This can't be handled via the forum staff.
