Speed to your router

I joined Talktalk on the 9th of this month specifically to get G.fast 330/50

My Pole was scheduled to go fttp by july 2022 that date came and went
then around November 2022 it changed to Not yet available and its outside the scope of openreach's plans now (sweet!)

My Pole Not yet available
1 Pole Away Build planned between now and Dec-2026
2 Poles Away Available now

My old isp only offered G.fast 160/30 or FTTP

anyway i joined Talktalk on the 9th with G.Fast 160/30 as they refused to offer me G.fast 330/50 (Ultrafast 250)
to avoid disapointment if my line wasnt capable Even though i assured them my line was Capable of 440mbit without an analog voice line and over 400mbit with one

Managed to order the upgrade to 330/50 about 4pm on the 9th and it went live just before the 11th

My question is why is the speed to your router a rolling average instead of the actual sync speed

9th it showed 160 Mbps
11th it showed 237 Mbps

19th its upto 301 Mbps

and it has been going up slowly since and at some point in the future it should get to 330 Mbps

I havnt lost sync since the 11th and have been sync'd at 330/50 the whole time
the openreach modem includes the sync speed in the dhcp request to the router that you can read if you know how

Being that i run my own router Asus GT-AX6000 with Merlin i can log into it via ssh and monitor the dhcp request to see the payload

What is the point on showing this if its just a rolling average

Hi Shonk10,

I don't know to be honest, I didn't know that it showed this info at all, I thought it just took a snapshot of your speed when you run a speed test.

Hi Michelle please read the post again

There is no problem with my line the sync is the max 330mbit down 50mbit up

and it has stayed synced the whole time

I was asking why your website uses a rolling average instead of live data

for the speed to the router (Sync Speed)

Morning Shonk10,

Thanks for your post. I've run a test on the line now which is clear and the sync speed looks consistent. Can I just confirm, were your recent speed tests completed wired or wireless when the speeds are varying?

Thanks

Michelle
