Hello all,

I am looking for a good WIFI extender device for connecting to my TalkTalk WiFi Hub with standard fibre 65 to boost the signal, both inside the house, and outside in the garden.

Can you use any WiFi extender/booster on the market with the TalkTalk WIFI Hub or do you need to use a particular brand and model?

Why is that bit confusing? I don't understand. Still, I am very glad to have helped you.

Hello,

I have tested out the WiFi booster around the house where it was a weaker signal before and outside and it is a very fast speed now, in fact full speed everywhere I have tested so far.

Thank you KeithFrench for your advice and help and for the TalkTalk support staff for progressing the order. I am very pleased and grateful.

Hi KeithFrench,

There has been a misunderstanding. I was reading from your sticky link. Thank you, I have managed to get it working successfully now. Just waiting for 30 minutes or slightly longer to then switch off the booster and relocate it in the house.

Can I say that this part below is confusing and it is superseded by the steps below it in the article. I was, as normal, working from top down on the article. It might be an idea to remove this section below to avoid confusion for other users.

V2 Fast 266 connection procedure

First place the FAST266 WiFi Booster near the Wi-Fi Hub. then follow the WPS procedure in the booster's documentation. After a successful WPS connection, leave the FAST266 where it is for 30 mins to allow for firmware updates and then, if stable, it can be turned off & relocated to its desired location.

That is why @Xpander43 I referred you to my sticky on this in post #43, that documentation is wrong.

Hello,

I have received my WiFi booster for the Sagemcom WiFi Hub.

Looking at your instructions on the link provided, these say:

'V2 Fast 266 connection procedure

First place the FAST266 WiFi Booster near the Wi-Fi Hub. then follow the WPS procedure in the booster's documentation'.

In the booster's documentation for how to connect your WI-FI Booster, I have the WiFi booster in the same room as the WiFi hub and within 30cm of it. Step 1 says Connect WiFi booster to the mains socket and switch on. Wait for the light (underneath the WIFI Booster) to change to a steady orange glow. Wait for one minute until the central LED flashes red.

The WiFi booster doesn't have a central LED, so I am assuming the instructions are referring to the WiFi Hub's central LED. But this is still white, it is not flashing red.

I tried connecting to the WiFi Hub's login page to check whether wps is turned on on the router but could not find any settings related to this.

Please can you advise.

You are most welcome:)
That is correct it should reflect as a once off fee on your next bill.

That's everything related to this thank you. Will the price of the WiFi booster be added to the monthly bill as a one off payment?

I have escalated it to the back office team and they should pick it up within 24 hours, however sometimes it can take 3 -5 working days to resolve. I have left detailed notes stating this should be ordered to you, at a discounted price of £30.00 and that I did inform you of the £9.95 delivery charge.

While I still have you online, I would like to confirm is there anything else that I can assist you with?

Thanks for this link. The page said to ensure the router version is 202 or later. I have checked via my router's login page and it shows the following at the bottom of the web page - would this be version 208?

Hi @Xpander43

That will work fine with the booster. If you have any problems (the information leaflet with the booster is wrong & should be ignored. Please see my sticky on this:-

I can also provide any technical support on this product that you may require. I worked extensively with TalkTalk during the product launch.

Hi mandisa1-TT,

The discounted price of £30.00 is what I am willing to pay for the wifi booster. I only require one. Please let me know how we can proceed with the purchase.

Thank you so much for the support @KeithFrench

Morning @Xpander43, I have investigated this for you and I can confirm we still provide Wi-Fi boosters. The Wi-Fi boosters are compatible with the package you are on, as they are designed for customers that are on (FTTC) fibre to the cabinet.  Wi-Fi boosters are £60.00 however I can order this for you at a discounted price of £30.00. We apologize for the inconvenience caused and I am unsure as to why the loyalty team advised you, we no longer sell Boosters. Kindly let me know should you still like to purchase them.

If you look at the label on the router, behind the pull up panel, it will say either:-

Fast5364.  Or

Fast5464

I must have revision 1 or 2 then. One of the TalkTalk support team that saw my post messaged me privately to say that the WiFi hub 3 is provided for some full fibre products and that it was released in April this year. My Sagemcom WiFi hub is navy blue in colour with a single led status indicator near the bottom in the centre.
