I will shortly be working from home and my company it department need to know the following.

Is it possible for you to have a single Static IP Address

  • They will ask you for a usage case – it is for using a business Voice over IP Telephone for your work
  • Do they block any services on the broadband such as:
  • Teamviewer
  • Remote Control Software
  • VPN

For the static IP address, you can use a DDNS provider compatible with your router. This will give you a static domain that will track your router's WAN IP address.

If you want more help on this, let me know.

VPNs are fine, providing that if you have the Sagemcom 5364 or 5464, it is running V174, or V206 firmware.

Team Viewer will require scam protection to be disabled, which is part of HomeSafe. The Homesafe settings can now be managed yourself, from within MyAccount, please follow the below steps to disable scam protection on your line:-

1. Log into MyAccount
2. Select My Services
3. Select View HomeSafe settings
4. Go to the Scam Protection section
5. Select OFF and confirm when you see the pop up window

Where you mention remote control software, I would need more details about this. What software is this & does it require port forwarding.

Thanks

Keith

Countless people work from home using VPN etc, @Nigel563.

Check out the specifics for the features using the forum search engine for articles, such as this:

But for a static IP address you would need to move to Talktalk Business:
