City Fibre Using Openreach Ducting

Having had City Fibre out some time ago when they rolled out fibre here they said that cabling would have to go through the garden so I cancelled installation. Having had a problem with broadband Openreach came out to diagnose and repair the fault, during discussion I mentioned to the engineer my interest in full fibre but don't want the garden dug up he said it should be going to the property via their existing ducting without any need to dig it in. Has anyone else had any experience of them using Openreach ducting.

Thanks

City Fibre can and do use Openreach ducts and poles where possible under an Ofcom-mandated arrangement known as Physical Infrastructure Access (PIA). Whether or not they can do that in your specific location is another matter.

I have had several discussions with City Fibre engineers over the last year and they always said the cable would need to go through the garden which is problematic, they never mentioned ducting and I wasn't aware of that till an Openreach engineer pointed the possibility out, don't know if City Fibre are allowed to use it though it would be the logical route.
