Contract price increase

The contract which I signed states "The monthly price for your broadband plan will increase in April each year by the rate of inflation (the Consumer Price Index rate, published in January each year) plus 3.7%. For example, using the average CPI value for the past 3 years of 5.5%, this would mean your monthly price would increase by no more than £2.48."

 

But in the recent email we received it mentions "In line with our terms and conditions, the price you pay for your Fibre 65 will go up by £3.83 from 28th April 2023."

 

This seems contradictory: no more than £2.48 vs £3.83.

5.5% was an example Consumer Price Index (CPI) figure not the actual CPI figure for this year's price increase calculation.

 

The actual CPI figure used is for December 2022. CPI inflation was 10.5% in December 2022. TalkTalk add 3.7% to that CPI figure for December 2022 that gets published in January 2023 and therefore the increase is 14.2% that you have been notified about this March as per the banner notification in your customer MyAccount.
