Digital Voice

I am confused regarding digital voice in FTTP

I have FF500 data only and a legacy copper landline.

I received am email saying I can have digital voice.

When I tried following the link it says I can't have it on my line.

While I appreciat my account says data only......I could of course sign up to an independent VOIP service (I think).

Online talk talk say that all FTTP can have digital voice and you get the same boosts and costs.

The question specifically is:

Technically what determines if my line can have digital voice. Does it relate to openreach, cityfiber....or others.

My FTTP was installed by open reach a couple of years back

I hope I explained the question clearly of not please ask for clarification.

Thanks

Steve

Hi Arnie

I have just received a call from someone in the complaints team.

She advised that this issue wasn't that Talk Talk couldn't move me over to a "Digital Voice" enabled FF500 account, the issue was that there wasn't room in my exchange box to activate this yet. I would be notified when this changes.

I guess that an Openreach problem

Hopefully that makes sense

Hi Arnie,

I have an openreach line, I have been on FF500 for a couple of years. it was finally renewed monday, I was told this could be amended to Digital Voice later. (there was a mess over the renewal it took 3 weeks so we avoided confusing the issue).

I spoke to them today and they said that it couldn't be added to my openreach FF500 yet and I would be notified when it was available. They indicated that it wasn't available yet on my openreach line, not an issue with my package.

This is why i posed the question in the way i did.

Hence the confusion.

I am already on FF500, digital voice was not available when I first upgraded. Hence it is "data only" with a copper landline.

Now you have digital voice, I asked to switch (I do not need to upgrade to FF 900).

I was told I could switch but it is not yet available on my FF openreach line.

I seem to be getting different information from different sources.

I was told it was my line and not the fact it is a data only plan (as that is historical)

I am confused

Hi @platipud

Thanks for your post.

Currently VIOP is only available on Openreach provided lines, but VOIP cannot be added on to a data only package (like a boost) it has to be placed as a new order via sales as a change of package.

Independent (non talktalk) VOIP providers can be added.

Hope that helps.
